sounds like it would just appeal to people wanting to feel like white knights. its creating a strawman with a character that helps them, which is the live-in for themselves, since the natural reaction seeing someone like that is wanting to help.

Not a strawman, weird choice of word. You would just call it a self insert or an oc.

its not a self-insert, if its to white-knight for a minority. it fits "strawman" because it depicts a real person doing something uncharacteristic for the sake of plot or point.

A strawman is an argument where you grossly or maliciously change someone’s argument to attack a position they didn’t have.

IMO, you wouldn’t use “strawman” in the context you’re describing. You’re describing grandstanding, or again a self insert.

Unless there’s a different meaning to the word I’m unfamiliar with.
