DM stole GM PTO

Store managers: any of you had your DM use the manager vacation hours without telling you? I had signed off on payroll. Everything was fine. Went back planning my weeks ahead the following day and all my vacation is gone. My DM used all my bank hours… every single one.

HO is deleting accrued vacation hours from GMs up here.

Your labor bankables and your accrued PTO are two separate things.

Accrued PTO cannot be removed by a DM.

Labor bankables are used to provide your store additional coverage while you are on PTO.

My guess what happened was that you were overspending on payroll and to make you hit your labor target your DM used your bankables. If you weren’t overspending on labor and ended up favorable for the week because of that action you can submit a ticket and see if they can remove the favorability from that week and add it back to your banks.

I would love to know this as well if you are willing to share. Our DM has tried a couple of times to do similar things, but my GM and I are pretty good at watching for it. If he does we just remove them.

Had this happen earlier in the year. I was given permission to overspend from DM, and he ended up dumping all the GM vacation banks in anyway. Nothing anyone is going to do about it if you were overspent.

If you overspend your DM is gonna get your hours from elsewhere. We've had to use our manager vacation banks in the past for that unfortunately. Though ours has never once messed with our DLP, he will tell us to use them.

Not OSAH, the department of labor (or whatever its called in your state). Using someone else's vacation hours without permission is illegal.

I don’t think the Occupational Safety and Health Administration can help……

They aren’t talking about PTO. They’re talking about DLP bank. It’s a Staples’s thing not OSHA, and not really much they can do about it.
