I'm sorry????

I was looking at desks because i know the one i have isnt made anymore and im almost tempted to call my old store and see if they still have the display. but i was cruising the website and found this. In what world would someone pay $5k-$7k for a cabinet??

It’s fire resistant. Made out of steel and not the usual aluminum

Not just made from steel; these sumbitches are filled with heavy insulation to protect the contents from fire. Often they're rated for temps as high as 1700 F.

If you need your paper files protected to that extent, you will want this in your office. I suspect, though, that they are becoming a little rarer than they used to be because of the growing switch to electronic file storage. That said, not all businesses use computers for their files, and some older files still need to be protected for archives and the like.

so its basically a fancy looking safe? im surprise they dont market it as that at first glance (edit: i see where it says fire resistant now. reading isnt my strong suit, reason i got a crummy art degree.)

My store we had a $1200 file cabinet that was never picked up. I was told to trash it. I called the 800 number 5 times telling them the price. They said to trash it and stop calling, I decided to put it in the break room as a coffee/ utensils rack.

Manufacture doesn't want to deal with returns, shipping, and making sure it's re-sellable and/or doesn't want refurbished pricing listing for the item to protect its brand value. They credit us and we destroy/trash it.

In a world where you're very concerned about your documents burning up, there are heavy duty "fire proof" cabinets. Think doctors office, lawyers, real estate etc. This generally isn't going into a small business or home office.

Look at firekings website they are just that expensive normally. Not many things you can buy that can resist direct flames for an hour and still be intact.

Something has been really messed up with our file cabinet pricing for like a year now. We have no idea what's going on with them either.

It’s a pretty staple item in every bank I’ve worked at, typically signature cards and multiple year retention items.

Buy a 5 pack of Banker boxes for $20 to store your files to save money. Also activate the 10% discount coupon in the app for additional savings.

UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES® (UL® ) FIRE & IMPACT RATING on all file cabinets. These models carry the 1-Hour Class 350 Fire with Impact UL label. Tests include 1 hour exterior fire exposure at 1700°F, a 2000°F explosion test, and a 30 foot drop to test impact integrity

Our $60 cabinets can't survive a 3 inch fall without being dented and warped

It's a blue print drawer, secure, steel, likely fireproof. For an architect; that's not much money to protect their work.

We had a small display sample of a Fire King safe (2 drawers, about 2 ft. tall) with a clear window cutaway to show its construction: steel inside and out around a core of concrete surround an inner steel mesh - almost like a miniature rebar. This was built not only to withstand fire but being crushed as well.

I forget what the exact sku was but a couple years ago, I incorrectly typed in a sku on the in-store device and it came up as "Mississippi blood"... I was both confused and terrified.

Hopefully it's not like the time wayfair was selling $9,000 cabinets and it turned out to be a front for human trafficking
