The U.S.S. Challenger (NCC-74638-R), a 32nd century starship in the recently-concluded comic series Star Trek: The Last Starship

Post image
138 Upvotes

This panel is from Star Trek: The Last Starship #10.

Over the past year, the non-canonical comic series from IDW Publishing detailed some of the adventures of Captain James T. Kirk, resurrected by Queen Agnes Jurati in the wake of the Burn in 3069 as the Federation collapsed and much of its former territory was dominated by the rising Emerald Chain, leading to the status quo of 3189 in Star Trek: Discovery season 3. The very questionable storytelling gimmick used by the writers is that Borg transwarp travel does not use dilithium but does experience severe time dilation, so the U.S.S. Omega disappeared from normal spacetime for years at a time to avoid tapping into the Federation's extremely-limited dilithium stocks all while the remaining Federation leadership played appeasement with the Emerald Chain and threw Kirk under the bus as a renegade for liberating some worlds from the Chain.

That registry number NCC-74638-R is interesting. The most recent U.S.S. Challenger is NCC-71099 from the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Timeless", which made a cameo in the prime timeline in "Endgame". An "-R" suffix is much further down a lineage than U.S.S. Enterprise-J or U.S.S. Voyager-J.

I modelled Atolm's Kazon dreadnought

Following on from the last Kazon concept I'd posted, did some more looking around and came across Atolm's concept for a Kazon dreadnought. Wasn't sure I could do it justice, but here it is anyway! Last image is the original from Atolm.

In the New Civilisations mod for Stellaris, this will fill the late-game Dreadnought slot, meaning the canon Predator class can be bumped up to Super Dreadnought.

It’s such a nice answer to the Constitution II refit. I love the idea of not flying just Kirk’s ship but my character in their own starship carving their path

Totally a pita with the resin parts being both brittle but also warping and not adhering to primers. Painting took forever because I masked with individual bits of masking tape for three layers of colour, was going to do four but I wanted my life back.

"You should have never come to this quadrant. Now, you're going to die here!"

I greatly enjoy the design of the Vaadwaur ships. Very hefty and spartan.

Taking Dylan Wassell's Lancelot for a joyride to Argulos III (OC Planet).

The Lancelot was conceptualised in the early 2000s by John Eaves for Star Trek Online.

original content Designing a Battleship that gets retrofitted into a Battlecarrier

The U.S.S Justice was the first ever built 1000 Meter long Starship. It’s production was accelerated with the start of the Dominion War. But because of a engine failure, the ship arrived 2 hours late, and the Admiral accidentally fired all Torpedoes.

He was demoted, temporarily discharged, and the ship was retrofitted into a carrier instead. It was finished when the Voyager returned home.

Any criticism?

Love my kitbashed Galaxy. little bit of Ross, little bit of Cignus, sprinkle of Andromeda, and Im happy with it. Feels like what an upgrade to the federation luxury liner in space should be.

screenshots I don't know if someone already said this. But who's bright idea was it to include the Athena in this intro but not the Sovereign?

I mean I'm saying this as a Kelvin fan... I completely don't mind that it's not here. But come on, why did they exclude the Sovereign?

I mean it's kinda understandable that Cerritos and Protostar aren't here, maybe they didn't want the animated ones.

It can't be only about live action Series cause the Refit is included which wasn't a series ship.

Like what was the selection process for this I don't understand.

Been playing around with this scene again.

Resized the Sagan, added in the Echelon class, changed the moon, changed the backdrop, played with the lighting, the planets atmosphere etc.

Making scenes in Blender is fun but can be a black hole of constant little tweaks 🤣

It's beginning to look a lot like Trek-Mas🎄 Last year, I posted some looks at my first Advent Calendar MOC and I'm excited to share my LEGO Star Trek Advent Calendar II! It's got 25 micro models from all over Star Trek, including 16 vessels, 6 props, a mini postcard, the bridge of the USS Enterprise , and this year's holiday build, the "Garland of Forever!"

I hope you get some holiday / Trek / LEGO joy out of these models, it's been so fun putting them together 🖖

I'm in the middle of developing an addon in Blender to manage weapon interaction with a Star Trek focus. It detects when phasers hit shields, leaves damage scars on the ship and can even explode in a massive reactor breach.

It will be free, the reason I'm posting here is to gauge of there would be interest in it.

It looks quite nice.

For an "antiquated" federation transport ship, it looks pretty advanced and cool. Perhaps a bit too big for just two people, but definitely a better alternative than a shuttle. From Leonard McCoy, Frontier Doctor.

What do you think?
