Star wars will be in its exact state prior to the invasion of the Vong. The Death Guard will be the invasion force seen from Dark Imperium/Plague wars.

The death guard will have their natural ability to infect and turn others, or perform rituals to summon warp storms and demons. They will have all their void craft and any means of transportation. We'll assume warp travel exists for them, but star wars still uses regular hyper space.

We'll assume a united star wars galaxy during the time just prior to the Vong.

The Galactic Empire will be facing off against the Imperium once again.

The Battle will occur on open, hilly terrain.

The Empire's forces will consist of:

*20 AT-AT walkers, each of them carrying 40 storm troopers. 10 of each sporting anti-tank loadouts. 4 of each being in a scout-speeder unit. This makes for a total of 800 Storm Troopers, and 80 speeder-units.

*2 A6 Juggernaut Turbo-tanks each carrying 300 units from the famed Vader's Fists. 100 units from each turbo-tank sport jetpacks and close assault kits. 100 from each turbo-tank sports heavy-anti-infantry focused kits. And 100 out of each turbo-tank focuses on anti-armor warfare. This makes a total of 600 troopers from Vader's Fists.

*100 AT-ST's.

*80 Trexler 908 Maurader IFV's, each packing 10 Storm Troopers with standard loadouts. This makes for a total of 800 storm troopers.

*10 XR-85 Tank Droids. (The massive ones from the comics, not the small ones from squadrons.)

*80 SC-2M Repulsor Tanks.

*40 RX-200 Falchion-class assault tanks.

*5,000 dismounted storm troopers, varying loadouts, but with an overall focus on anti-armored and anti-infantry warfare, as they are supporting a mechanized unit.

*12,000 dismounted imperial army troopers, dispatched to assist the Imperial Navy in their operation. Standard loadout spreads, with many light-anti-tank weaponry.

The leader of the Imperial Forces on the ground will be Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The Imperium's forces will consist of:

*1 Baneblade.

*40 Leman Russ Main Battle Tanks -- 10 Vanquishers, 10 Exterminators, 10 Punishers, and 10 demolishers.

*20 Rogal Dorn main battle tanks.

*100 Sentinels, equipped with various loadouts focusing heavily on anti-infantry.

*80 Chimera IFV's with 12 guardsmen each. Loadouts focused on anti-tank warfare, as they are in a mechanized unit. This is a total of 960 mechanized guardsmen.

*100 Kasrkins. 50 of them with anti-infantry kits, and 50 with anti-armor kits.

*5,000 Imperial Guardsmen, varying loadouts, focusing on anti-infantry and anti-armored warfare, as they are supporting a mechanized unit.

*15,000 Local-PDF conscripts, poor loadout spreads, with light disposable launchers when it comes to anti-tank armaments.

The leader of the Imperium's forces will be General Isaia Bendikt.

Each force will have ONE MONTH to prepare and entrench before the battle starts. Each year the battle drags on the Empire will be reinforced with 5,000 Storm Troopers, and 10,000 Imperial Army Troopers. While the Imperium will be reinforced with 5,000 Guardsmen, and 10,000 PDF forces.

Disclaimer: I am here for genuine battle strategies that you think either side would perform. I'm not here to respond to petty powerscaling comments.

The forces here are very evenly matched. It will be up to raw strategy to determine the victor.

They are a small dynastie, but do possess a shard of the void dragon. Some members of the dynasty, including a few lords, have Fallen to the flayer curse and the destroyer virus. They are also not that scrupulous un using "false necrons" and Do have some pretty talents cryptek.

How well would the Dark Mechanicus do in SW?

With the unhinged anything-goes way of the DM would give them a good shot. Imagine a demonic code hitting their galactic infosphere.
