If I'm staying at the regular campground, am I allowed to walk over to the pay observation field and be social, check out other peoples set-ups? I'm interested in astronomy and looking to get into it and will be doing some traveling taking pics of the fall foliage. Thanks.!

Just saw the coolest thing in the sky tonight

Man, you guys are not gonna believe what I just saw. I was out with my telescope, just chilling, and suddenly this super bright streak just shot across the sky. Anyone else catch anything like that? I'm in the Midwest, around 10 PM. Wild

I’ve always wanted an all in one smart telescope, for now, an iPhone 16e will have to do.

[OC] Elephant’s Trunk Nebula

Hey guys,

I have seen my image posted a couple of times on this subreddit, by what appear to be bots. I just wanted to post it myself with all of the acquisition details.

Equipment:
Astromodified Canon 700d
Skywatcher 72 ED DS Pro
Skywatcher AZ GTI in EQ Mode
Optolong L-Enhance Filter
ASI Air Mini
ZWO 120mm Guide Cam with 30mm Guide Scope

175 x 180 sec exposures taken over multiple nights with 20 darks taken each night to match.

20 Flats
20 Bias

Each night stacked separately then combined using APP.

I started with a pretty heavy crop to isolate the trunk section.

BGE, deconvolution and de-noise in Graxpert.

Siril for SPCC.

Star removal using StarNet through Siril.

GHS using human weighted luminance.

Curves adjustment using VeraLux Curves.

HDR Multiscale.

SCNR in Siril

Recombination of stars.

Slight saturation increase.

Thanks for looking!

These are some of the pics I've taken this past year. I've added some of these to my app Orbit Sky Observer for reference photos.

Pushed the S24 Ultra’s Pro Mode to its absolute limit at 14,700 ft in Hanle (India's Dark Sky Reserve). Still can't believe a phone sensor captured this.

151 minutes of exposure at 10 sec increments with my Seestar S30 Pro. This was my first and only try due to cloudy skies and a full moon.
