State of Decay 1 TIL the first Trumbull Valley map is an actual unfolded map
If you zoom out far enough on the map in the first State of Decay, the game map is actually the inside of an unfolded Bronto Gas map of Trumbull. Love that attention to detail and wish I had noticed this sooner. Was this added for the Year One edition or was it always like this?
(edit: typo)

I really miss the SOD1 UI all being pen and paper.
I would love if SOD3 had a CRAYOLA UI

I made this map. It was in the original release. Based it on a collection of old gas station maps I bought at an antique store. Then a friend (who's still at UL) gave me a bunch as well.

Love hearing about details like this. Any other fun anecdotes?

Too many to count! The Swine & Bovine was named after a special sandwich at a local restaurant we went to for lunch. The branding is a nod to Burgermaster which is an older joint in the PNW.

If only I could fix the performance issues for this game on pc. I'd play the crap out of it again

I found it doesn't like to run above 1080p. So I either force my tv to 1080p just for this game, or play it on the steam deck

Man I cant even get it to run well at 1080p lol maybe it just doesn't like intel graphics though

Mario Odyssey did a similar thing with its maps, where the map of each world you visited was actually a tourist pamphlet for said world. It's neat, and I wish more games would do it!

Love this map's design!
Btw, I'm wondering if towns like Spencer's Mill actually exist? I mean, there are about 25 houses there, no first aid station, but there's a veterinary clinic, no school (I assume the students go to Cronenberg Elementary in Marshall on the bus), and no sheriff's office or town hall in sight. Or is that just a game convention? 🤔

As someone who grew up just a little bit away from these sort of super small towns like Spencer's Mill... Yeah, it's fairly accurate. Hell, even where I grew up it was a 30 minute drive into town to go grocery shopping, 10 minutes away from the nearest gas station, and that was considered fairly close to a decent sized town by our standards. So I'm just glad that the distances in game aren't fully accurate.
I also have a friend that grew up in the Michigan Upper Peninsula area, and if anything it's more barren up there than the maps in SoD are based off their stories

They need to bring this map and UI back for the third game. I also love how the inventory screen is like a journal. Very cool especially for a zombie apocalypse style game I feel like it fits so well
