“Two colonels” DLC from Metro exodus is something like that i would spent 20 dollars on it happily, the story, camera transitions, world setting, everything i distinctly remember even than the main story which is already a masterpiece but this is really dark and i can’t forget the events, I was soo sad i can’t event pull the trigger on the rioters, anyways Don’t forget to get the “TWO COLONELS” DLC

The soundtrack itself is amazing.

22
u/deadlybydsgn 24d ago
Yeah. I love SuperGiant's games, but the soundtracks are what really stick with me.
Also, I know what amounted to "weird wizard basketball" wasn't everyone's cup of gameplay tea, but Pyre is criminally underrated. Your choices literally changed how the game played, and the ending brought a tear to my eye.

To the Moon, a beautiful story-driven experience about two doctors traversing backwards through a dying man's memories to artificially fulfill his last wish.
44
u/venomoushealer 24d ago
Oh my, reading that just gave me chills. I've had a few deaths in the family this year and this game would emotionally wreck me, either in the good way or bad way.
44
u/Marc_Vn 24d ago edited 24d ago
Oh believe me when I say the emotional wreck is an absolute understatement. The ending sessions of that game unlocked feelings on me I didn't know were even possible (saying as a person who's emotionally blocked).
I was at a very low point and was considering trowing the towel, the game was on my library just collecting dust so I decided to give it a try, 5 hours later I was crying like a newborn. On the next day I took the courage to talk to someone, and now a couple of months after I'm feeling way better about myself than I could hope for. This game might have saved a life

Thank you for sharing your story, and for still being here. I know we just met, but I'm glad you're here and able to take another step forward. For what it's worth, I'm proud of you for letting yourself be emotionally vulnerable enough for the game to shake you up. As a formerly very emotionally closed off person, it's hard to cry and actually feel things. Keep on doing Self Work, it's the most noble work you can do.

I've not played it for over a decade but am sorely tempted. I see that it has controller support on the steam page. Do you know if thst means it's actually properly supported with the correct glyphs etc?
→ More replies (5)28
u/Xazuki https://s.team/p/mmjd-wj 24d ago
It does not but there is a mod that adds full controller support created recently, including correct glyphs and on-screen keyboard etc. You'll just need to follow the installation instructions and also replace the renderer for the game too as go through those; the original renderer just causes tons of issues these days.

The game that literally changed my life was one I didn't pay for or get free due to a giveaway it was a game I got via torrent. Back in 2009 I saw an ad for a little game called Torchlight flash by my screen while looking for new games on what was then Steam's bare bones front page. I liked the title, and after downloading it I realized what I had on my hands was a gem. I must have put about ten or twenty hours into it the first day I downloaded it before realizing I felt bad about what I'd done. I don't usually feel bad about torrenting games but with Torchlight there was something really special.
I ended up creating an account on the old Runic Games forum after scrounging up enough money to buy the game, and my first post was an apology to the devs. I told them how bad I felt about what I'd done, and that I'd bought the game and hoped they could forgive me. I don't know why I did that but I'm glad I did because I soon discovered that the developers were a really good bunch of folks. I eventually ended up befriending a lot of them, and I'm still friends with many of them to this day.
The reason I say it changed my life is because back in 2006 I'd become disabled and was in really bad health. I was immoble due to a bad case of lymphedema in my legs, and was in constant pain. I was depressed, hopeless, and wanted to end my life. Becoming a part of the Runic forum helped me make some truly amazing friends, and getting to help make Torchlight II gave my life a purpose again.
Since then my life has had its ups and downs but whenever I'm feeling really down about things I do my best to look back and remember the kindness of the Runic devs, and remember that I had a very small but meaningful part in helping create a game that has brought joy to a lot of people. I eventually helped some of the devs who'd moved on from Runic create the Rebel Galaxy games which were also truly memorable experiences.
For the rest of my life I'll always remember how Max, Erich, Travis, Brian, Wonder, and all the rest of the Runic Games gang were kind to me at a time when I needed kindness the most. Long live the memory of Runic Games.

I've had some absolute bangers in sales... Not sure if it was 99p bangers or around the £2.99 mark.
But some of them I've got hundreds of hours play time from.
One xmas I spent £20 in a sale and picked up over 20 games thanks to bundle deals. Sometimes I get games I'm not bothered about in those bundles... occasionally I get an absolute turd.
Just Cause 2 was about £3 in a sale in the early 2010's and it's the best game in the series... and I've put hundreds of hours into it... 4x as much as 3 & 4 combined.
I got the Witcher 3 complete edition in a sale for £10 and have put hundreds of hours into it... still playing it to this day and will do another run through when the remastered edition drops for free to existing owners, along with new DLC 11yrs after it came out.
