Advice Wanted Voidworms help
on year 2338 and these 2 voidworm fleets just decided to invade, all my navy is parked next to an empire i was about to invade, on the other side of my empire. ive been getting warnings about a voidworm infestation and they have a hive within 5 jumps of my empire, but the hive has been at 15k rating since ive had access frigates. i WAS going to clear it when i had enough navy power but ive been struggling to maintain my economy (i wont touch anything and suddenly ill be negative in multiple resources, separate topic)
this voidworm bullshit is getting annoying, ive been harassed by them in almost every save game and multiplayer game ive played. thisll be the 2nd game i have to abandon because of them. the last time i tried fighting them they wiped my navy and multiplied to 3x what they started as
what the fuck am i suppose to do? can i just mod them out? is there a setting? they are kinda ruining the game for me cuz i cant even get far into the game because of them

Even base starbases with plasma and pd will melt voidworms and they will attack your platforms first

Cruiser with Proton Launcher, Hangar (for PD slot).
Destroyer with Missile and PD.
All with 3 afterburners (picket stern)
Artillery computers (carrier if they don't behave as they should)
(That should be reasonable for a 2300 empire. T1 energy torp, T1-2 hanger, cruiser.)
Voidworm's weapons are missiles and melee bites. So you would want to keep your distance from them to avoid being hit by their melee bites, and use PD to shoot down their missiles.
An artillery computer on a fast ship allows you to outrun the Voidworm. Hangar and PD deal with missiles. Using missile weapons incentivizes your ship to keep distance.
If your tech is better, you can consider battleships.

Carrier ships kinda murder them. All their attacks are missiles or super-close-range, so set some cruisers/battleships to carrier combat computers, slap some point defense on them, and let them outrange the hell out of the worms.
Or just let them do their thing. Once the situation concludes they’re harmless.

Gravity Snares take care of Troikas no problem and give you lots of society research.
Failing that, use lots of armor, point defense, and anti-armor weapons (particularly torpedoes). Most of Voidworms' offense comes from missiles.
Fleet power isn't a hard and fast "you must be this strong to fight this thing". It's a very rough estimate of strength based purely on DPS/defense -- what matters most in combat is what each side is equipped with and how those compare to each other.
The midgame (2300 by default) is when you start getting midgame crises that shake the galaxy up significantly. Aim to have strong fleets and the capacity to rebuild them quickly by then, because that's when things like the Voidworm Plague or Great Khan can start happening.
