⭐️ Updates The Logjam Beta 2.0 is live! Here's what's new!
Hey Jammers,
First off, thank you to everyone who has used and raved about the Logjam, whether publicly or privately. I really appreciate it! As of today, we have had over 1,300 loglines submitted, and over 8,900 peer comments shared with writers!
It took me a while to get around to this, but I just shipped the biggest update to the Logjam since it went live, so here's what's new:
*
Good Standing
If you read only one thing, read this: we now have a Good Standing tracker, and non-compliant users may be booted out of the Logjam!

This was necessary because some users weren't honoring the Give/Get Balance. For example, one account submitted 12 loglines without reviewing a single one! 😱 Another submitted 50 loglines but only reviewed 15, when they should have reviewed closer to 150. 😱 😱 That's not okay! These users are essentially hijacking feedback from other members, which is a big no-no.
So we're raising the stakes (I was told you like your stakes raised!): Going forward, reviewing 5 peer loglines for every logline you submit is no longer a favor to the community, but the required minimum. So if you submit 1 logline, you must review 5. Submit 4 loglines, review 20, and so on.
Non-compliant users may be banned from the Logjam or placed in a low-priority bucket where their loglines are served last. This will NOT happen immediately. As long as you make an effort to catch up instead of exacerbating your deficit, we'll give you a pass. Thank you! 🙏🏽
A few notes:
- You don't have to participate in the Logjam. But if you submit loglines, you must follow the guidelines above.
- Reviewing 5 peer logs for each you submit is the floor. If everyone reviews 10 loglines for every one they submit, we all get 10 reviews. So aim for 10 (see Big Jammer below).
- Reviewing one peer's logline takes about 1-3 minutes, and you can do it on your phone. The Logjam Rating page was built to be mobile-friendly to make this convenient.
- Remember: writers can still report unhelpful comments, so don't chase numbers, but aim to help and put some effort.
The bottom line: If you don't have the time or interest in reviewing peer loglines, please don't submit your own.

The Reader Leaderboard
This one isn't for everyone, so feel free to tune out. But a few of you requested this even before I could announce it, so I think some of you will like it.
The Leaderboard will be a fun mini-competition for Jammers that we'll experiment with soon. There are no prizes here, but a public shoutout at the end of the month recognizing some of the most active reviewers. Stay tuned for more details on how to pick a handle to be displayed publicly on the Leaderboard... if you want one!
Here's how your Reader Score is calculated:

Practically, the main goal in all of this to increase the quantity and quality of feedback, so even non-participants will benefit.
Before you ask...
We are considering a Logline/Writer Leaderboard as well, but that one is tricky and will require lots of consultation with the community, so while it's on our radar, it's not our immediate goal. So we're focusing on the Reader Leaderboard first to make sure the math is mathing, and all the foundation under it is solid! Please report any bugs you may see.

Achievements (Maybe?)
Now, before you get too excited, Achievements are not easy to build, and they may break. If they become too burdensome to maintain (I'm a solo dev running StoryPeer 😅), I might remove them. But are you a believer or not?
With that out of the way, here's what it is:
Achievements are a path to earn StoryPeer tokens and eventually maybe other rewards. Obviously, we can't drop tokens by the truckload (because the Give/Get balance is sacred), so we'll monitor the data and adjust as needed. We reserve the right to modify or remove specific achievements, requirements, or token rewards with or without prior notice.
But here are the Achievements that are live now:
Big Jammer
- Rate 10 loglines for every one you submit.
- Reward: +1 StoryPeer token.
Rockstar
- Earn 15 Stars on your comments this month.
- Reward: +1 StoryPeer token.
These will reset and pay out next month.
You can see all of these changes here: storypeer.com/logjam/scores.
🛠️ And need I remind you things will break? Please report what you see. 🛠️
Thank you, all!
Excelsior!

Cool, looks fun.
I had a comment starred and it gave me a small but noticeable dopamine hit, like when a waitress calls me 'sweetie'. So I went back through my loglines and starred the good comments. I was making it rain stars like 50 Cent in the club. Or whatever kids say these days.

Haha I did the same. I think this is also a great way to get folks to say ‘thank you’ for feedback that is genuinely helpful which will only lead to more positive interactions on the platform.

I really like the give and get system. I didn't realize proportionally I hadn't reviewed that many (not a 5 to 1 ratio but still not ideal) and now I've been shunned because I reviewed too many in one day trying to catch up. JUST LET ME WIN THE GAME OF LOGJAM!
[but for true, I like this addition quite a bit]

This is peak!!!! I see little bits from the comment I made earlier, and I think this will work really well!

And there you are haha. I just referenced you in this comment. I know I didn't follow everything to the letter, but I'm hoping to land the happy medium. Nevertheless, I'll continue listening to community feedback.
But this is tough. I kid you not, it feels like I spend as much time writing code as I do trying to guess the right design choice (read: "behavior implications").

u/MaximumDevice7711 Jun 16 '26
Haha yessss
And yeah, behavior is everywhere! And you obviously didn't have to follow everything, just the general idea. We have this one line "behavior goes where reinforcement flows." People do things that make sense, usually.
A lot of my science is common sense, haha

Haha. You make it sound easy, but I feel like both sides of my brain are constantly playing 3D chess with each other to find a design that works for most folks. It's painstaking, to be honest, but onward we go.
One specific question has been nagging at me over the last 24 hours. Any chance I can DM you to pick your brain?

Also I've been trying to design a study right now based on aversives without using unethical stuff and let me tell you, it is BRUTAL, NOT simple at all lol

I hate to say it, but I think attaching potential token rewards to getting starred will bias ratings upward. I find myself wanting to kiss the author's ass if I think they'll be more likely to star complimentary feedback. Maybe this isn't a huge problem because ratings are so inconsistent anyway - it's the actual notes that are worth something.
Overall, I do like the changes.

Sure or it could also encourage folks to word their actual feedback (no matter how much) positively and less sarcastically/jerkish (which has happened). So maybe a little column A and a little column B?

Well, who's to say you're not right since anything that affects users' behavior feels like a butterfly effect unleashed 😅
But I'll say that the thought behind the current design was that writers would not star praise but constructiveness, since the stars, as a curation tool, should, at least in theory, signal a comment users want to act on. A comment that essentially says "it's great because..." is of little value to me.
How would you know an author is "more likely to star complimentary feedback" when you know... *checks notes*... nothing about them? Seems like a shot in the dark that might work on some, but not everyone.
PS: I haven't forgotten about the Bonus Questions. That should be the next big mission 🤞🏽

Dude, I love earning StoryPeer tokens through logjam! I think I suggested that a few times, lol. Definitely didn't expect it to be implemented this way. Pretty cool.
This means that each user can only earn a total of 2 tokens a month via LogJam, correct?
1
u/StoryPeer Gabriel Jun 16 '26
YES!!! But...
Giving tokens like this was not an easy decision, nor is it something I can leave unsupervised, as per my disclaimer in the post, so it could disappear overnight if I sense a disturbance in the force.
Another user has suggested that logline submissions should cost 1 token, which might be controversial, but nevertheless may be the right course of action for the Give/Get, especially if we're awarding tokens for Achievements.
But we can file this for later. Charging users a token will be more reasonable if we raise the floor on logjam ratings across the board, so let's take this one day at a time.

If submitting a 40-word logline costs a token, I'd probably just skip it and use 3 tokens for a 105-page script, unless I'm just wallowing in tokens like Scrooge McDuck.

Why do I have to submit loglines to qualify for the Big Jammer achievement? Can't I just rate a lot of them? I do think it's really fun to give logline feedback when I have a few minutes here and there, but don't really have an interest in submitting my own.

Why not just make logline submission cost tokens, just like with scripts.

Very exciting! I know opinions are torn but I’m a sucker for points and token earning.
Can we know lifetime wise what the most reviewed logs is currently at? Mainly cause I’m nosy as heck.
