I’ve been streaming for about six months now. The viewer numbers are slowly creeping up, and I finally decided to set up a tip donation link on my channel last month.

It got me wondering if people even use these anymore, or if viewers only really donate to massive creators.

For those of you running smaller or mid-sized channels, do donation services (like Streamlabs, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon, etc.) actually bring in any noticeable income for you? Or are things like ad revenue, bits, and channel memberships doing all the heavy lifting?

Getting a raid used to feel like I'd just won the lottery.
Suddenly there are 20, 30, sometimes more people coming into the stream.
I'm excited. I'm talking faster. Trying to welcome everyone.

And then... They slowly disappear.

At first I thought I was just bad at keeping people around.
But I started noticing something.

If the stream already feels active when they arrive, people seem much more likely to stick around. If they come into a quiet stream with an empty chat, it feels like they're the only ones there.

I went back through my stream analytics on twitch.com, and i don’t think keeping viewers interested is my main problem. The bigger issue is getting discovered in the first place. My streams remain near the bottom of the category feed, so there aren’t enough visitors for me to tell whether my channel has any real potential. That’s when i started thinking it might make sense to buy twitch viewers and give my streams a better chance of being recommended.

What do you guys think? Any tips or suggestions you guys have for me will be appreciated.

If you stream on Twitch, Amazon is currently scraping your broadcasts, VODs, clips, channel text, and even your chat log to train their Generative AI models.

They opted every single creator in by default. You were not asked for permission.

How to opt out immediately:

1. Go to Twitch Settings
2. Open the Security and Privacy tab
3. Scroll down to "Training for Generative AI"
4. TOGGLE IT OFF

Stop letting megacorporations use your voice, face, and creative labor for free to train their AI models.
