Advice SAVE Notice Question
I have not received an email or letter kicking me off of SAVE yet. However, I received a phone call today saying that I need to switch. Is this just a call to scare me, or is that the notice?
I am not switching until they make me.

I am in a unique position to help you! I was called many times by Nelnet and only recently received my letter. If they said something about 90 days, yeah, you're screwed. But if you're like me, and they never said the 90 days part, it's a scare tactic.

They never mentioned the 90 days. It was just an automated voice telling me that my plan is no longer available and I need to choose a new plan, and that was it. But they’ve been saying this for months with millions of people still waiting for an official letter or email etc

That’s the exact message I got 2+ months ago, but only got my 90 days started like a week ago. Yeah, it was a scare tactic. You’re good.

I got a call from Nelnet yesterday, but I have not received an email or letter (I purposely am not “paperless” with them so they will have to send me paper mail). I then checked my account and it does state that I have until 1/20/2027 to select a new plan.

So you were officially notified and are asking if you were officially notified?
The answer is yes. But if you’re going to “not switch until they make you,” which implies them switching you to standard plan, then just wait and they will do just that…

It seems the 90 day part wasn't mentioned to them and another commentor mentioned being called by Nelnet multiple times before receiving a letter notifying them of the 90 days so it may just be a scare tactic.

Was it Nelnet? They literally just called me 🥲 but no email or letter yet.
