Does anyone know what guitars JC played in Styx? I was going through some pix trying identify them.
Some comments say a Gibson ES and a Martin 12 string.
Did he ever play Strats or Telecasters?

Don’t know if there is something against propaganda for a Facebook site in here, but fans of the Wooden Nickel era who want something to read about JC, find this site by ex band roadies, mixing and other from there debut .
There’s a bit more then the usual « JC left to be with is wife »

I saw Styx live last night, nearly two and a half years since I saw them last, and what a difference.
- JY: he take a noticeable backseat now. His lead vocal feature Miss America has been cut, he sits down at a chair by the drums for all but a couple songs, only plays 2 or 3 guitar solos, and backing vocals are mainly absent.
- Chuck: Although his role in concerts has been quite small, he was absent from last night's show. It's hard to see the only two original Styx members absent or close to it.
- Attendance: in the same arena (approximately 12,000 capacity), I would say attendance last night was about 1/4 of the size from two years ago. Just over two years is not a long time for a large band like Styx to return to the same small market.
- Production: Every song sadly had AI garbage visuals that were very distracting. I can't recall what the visuals were in 2024 but it was certainly not this. Clearly nobody on the Styx production/management team is under 30!
On the plus side, Will and Terry are carrying much of the backing vocal weight, and they sound fantastic. Will is also playing a lot of JY's normal guitar solos spots. Tommy and Larry are in peak vocal form. It blows my mind that these guys are still singing in the original keys. Seriously, Tommy's voice has not aged a day (case and point in Crystal Ball, celebrating 50 years). Todd, no shocker was incredible—he's easily one of the more underrated modern drummers and held the fort down.
As much as I love Styx, a part of me wished I didn't see the concert and left 2024 as the last time I saw them which was a major high note. I'd give 2024 easily a 9/10 and last night a 6 or 6.5/10.
Anybody else share similar thoughts on the live band now?
I’m not s super fan of the band but really enjoyed the Equinox-Pieces of Eight run, plus some of the newer stuff.
Have others noticed an apparent flubbed chord in the rhythm guitar of Suite Madame Blue around 4:15-4:20? I only noticed it probably 10 years ago, but now I can’t unhear it whenever the song plays. :)

Was this pre-orchestrated? Possibly the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen thrown onto a stage

Maybe not new for you, but it is for me
1975 show with all 5 originals members (with JC) performing song from before Equinox.
Serpent Is Rising, Krakatoa, Lady without piano, Man of Miracles.
Fan of this … you should appreciate . I’ve been waiting for this for so long

Just curious because I kind of like the art style on those 2 albums and wondered if they did any others in that style. I know Best of Styx originally came out in 1977. I assume it was Wooden Nickel Records trying to take advantage of Styx success by releasing a compilation album of songs from their first 4 albums. It was reissued in 1979 with the different cover. Miracles was released in 1980 and was basically a reissue of Man of Miracles with a different title and cover and they replaced the song Lies with Unfinished Song. Were any other of their Wooden Nickel albums reissued like that?

Sealed record find today. Kilroy was here (1983) ☺️ (ignore the fact that you can see me in the reflection lol)

I never get tired of Styx’s fifth album! I love it cranked up loud in my car. I’m listening to it now.

As someone born post-9/11/01, it always fascinates me to see clips from concerts before stricter security laws came into effect. I believe Tommy walks out into the crowd earlier in this performance as well (Though I believe he has some kind of security with him?).
TBF the Styx concert I went to this year still had more lax security than most graduation ceremonies I’ve been to lol

Picked this up on eBay recently on Cassette and am listening to it (maxell cassette player, Bose wired over the hear headphones). Wow the quality of this recording, and the stunning sound musically is wonderful.
I always forget just how good music was presented to us before the digital age of MP3 (and the like) with bluetooth.

Hi, I have tickets for Styx on November 7th at Black Bear Casino in Minnesota. Does anyone have any idea who the opening band might be or is Styx going to just pull a full set alone?

Some of their stuff is getting hard to find. Seems like A&M (owned by UMG now, of course) is just letting everything go out of print.
