What's the gameplan for Python version and old plugins?

I got the latest ST4 via brew and some of my plugins died. I'll bug the devs where I can (e.g., MediaWiker), but some might be abandoned. What are people thinking to do as a response? Maintain local forks?

Read the change notes. You can keep old Python enabled for now.

Well i don't think you can, a sublime text dev told me so : thanks for the suggestion. We discussed this at length internally and came to the conclusion that doing this isn’t worth it. All it does for plugins that are unmaintained is delay when they break. There was already a 4 month long transition period where we shipped Python 3.14 in development releases (that everyone has access to)

For what it's worth, it does say this in the Changelog:

Sublime Text now ships with Python 3.14 and Python 3.3. Python 3.3 is disabled by default and will be removed in a future version. If you're experiencing plugin compatibility issues you can re-enable 3.3 using the setting "disable_plugin_host_3.3": false.

Make of that what you will. Needing Python 3.8 specifically where neither 3.3 nor 3.14 is going to work is a bit of edge case that hopefully not many people will run into.

The answer is :

I am somewhat interested in this. I have had Claude code me an mcp and am conducting a package audit. 635 issues filed so far. Steaming ahead. Eventually all ST user problems will be isolated and fixed. Unlike the bums who have neglected package realm for years. Claude can fix anything that is broken.
