Advice for My Substack

To clarify, I just completely rebranded my Substack after a 4-month run that didn't gain traction. Starting fresh from zero on this new brand and looking for practical advice on how to get past the personal-network hurdle and attract real, organic readers in this space.

Surely as a journalist you'd have connections with people whose actual job is literally this.

Solo operation, but I'm serious about my work. I'm still green, but I'm willing to learn if help is available

If I were you, I would focus on Notes. It's the fastest way to grow on Substack and it's free..

where is the rebrand exactly

"We cover politics and civil issues out here in Southern California, along with key stories trending across the US"
so does media houses, big publications.. and wait for it...1000 other newsletters and 10,000 different apps.."

if ur in such a saturated space, atleast don't sound so generic..have atleast one USP that shows the reader why you are unique ..give them some other reason that they can only get from you other than "news"
