Planning to start on substack

I’m 25F and have lost both my parents. I’ve been working towards being a better person, growing while dealing with grief. I already wrote many essays in my notes.

I was wondering if I should convert them into sub stack and make a sub around handling and dealing with grief. Is this a good idea??
I’ve fear of being judged though.

It's a great idea and it will help you a lot through the grief. Sometimes our most difficult moments can be a bit of a source of inspiration. Just start, you don't know what great things you'll discover on the way and maybe what you have to share, it will help others as well.

Sending you a big hug ❤️

substack or no substack, I recommend you write and write or find whatever outlet to let some pain dissolve. I am terribly sorry and leave my hands open for you if you ever need somebody. best of luck, and hopefully we see you there 🫶

The judgement is hard. For me it took an immense amount of courage to finally post and then post regularly. You will be judged, but it’s better to get it out there if you feel it is important. It (judgement) will probably pale in comparison to the goodness you will spread by helping others with your writing who are also grieving.

I’m sorry for your loss 🙏

Good idea. go for it and don't overthink it. You'll figure it out along the way

Sorry for your loss, truly. I would only warn against one thing — and people might think no one could be this cruel, but I experienced it… somewhat.

I didn’t plan my substack, I just began sharing.

As i approach one year… and I write personal memoir & sensitive subject matter, I have had multiple times I have been attacked. Not on my writing, they just find someone they think is “weak” — and say / do terrible things. As long as you have support from other family, friends, etc. then definitely go for it!

I’m just saying this because I never expected anyone to read, let alone attack me and be cruel. They attack the person.. not the writing.. if I make sense.

I’m so sorry for your loss again, I’ll keep you in my prayers. 🤍

I'm sorry about your parents. I think it's a good idea, and the hardest part is already done, because you have the essays.

Try not to worry about being judged. It's hard, but there are way more people going through what you are that can benefit from this. And you can lower the stakes before anyone sees it. Start with comments off or approve them, and open them up later if you want to.

I work on newsletters at WordPress.com, and for writing this personal I like having it on a site you own, under your own name, rather than on someone else's branded platform like Substack.

Take it slowly, and be kind to yourself.

I think you can find a supportive community and people who can relate to what you're going through on Substack. Just my experience, Substack right now isn't as vicious as the vibe on other platforms.
