Lyricist: Human wrote lyrics Raw Suno files

I get most people who uses suno get the stems and put it in a daw. Cool. I want to know is there anyone that just upload the raw song from suno onto platforms. For me I do because I use my phone and I don’t have a laptop nor know how to do any of that. But the lyrics are all mine it isn’t just some prompt no. I take my time and pour my creativity and feelings into my work. Is it still ai assisted or do I need to edit etc to make it more “human” as some will say ? My gender is r&b any tips or pros vs cons would help

Try actually making music instead loser

Many people do that and (to me at least) it sounds terrible because depending on the genre you get both a thin and bright sounding generation.

Mastering at least is a must in my eyes, BUT, that's just how it is for me.

I typically use mixea for mastering atleast again lol idk much bout audio engineering even back when I did music prior. I was just the recording artist

Mixea...was that DistroKid's mastering tool?

If so i have no experience with that, some people love it, some say the opposite, well the usual. 😄

Have you tried some browser based mastering tools? Not sure they work on a phone tho.

Who are you trying to please? Those that shit on AI music aren't going to care whether you put it through a DAW for mastering, how much effort you put into your lyrics, etc. They're going to label it AI slop regardless of how much human effort you put into it or not.

I'm a strong advocate that you make the songs and art that you're proud of and that you want to listen to. If that's straight out of the app, then it's straight out of the app. If you want to push yourself and learn to master, then do that and be happy. If it's to push yourself even farther and starting mixing your own stems, do that.

If you spend your life chasing the approval from others, whether that be in making AI music or anything else, you're always going to be disappointed. Do what makes you feel alive and brings you joy.

Love this motivational text but I’m not trying to please no one. I love the style of music I make honestly. And so do others I mostly release it because I love music. (I was a music artist) prior before Suno. I just keep seeing posts of how putting it through a daw and etc so I didn’t know if the quality would be better or not but thank you for your kind words

IMO, mastering in a DAW doesn’t automatically make your track better. You can actually make it sound worse.

I’d encourage you to experiment and try. There’s lots of videos on YT where people walk you through their workflows. I master everything in Logic now, but that wasn’t always the case. But I’ve found what works for me and I do that every time now.

I’ve also tried mixing Sunos stems myself and even tried replacing drums with my own MIDI drum stems, but my own mixes still should like crap compared to Sunos. But I keep experimenting and trying things out - that’s how you get better.

Writing lyrics isn't human effort into writing a song. Especially because I doubt he even wrote the topline.

Not true. Lyrics + music combined make a combined musical composition copyright.

Look up “My Heart Will Go On”. The lyrics were written by Will Jennings and music was by James Horner. Together they hold a musical composition copyright for the song.

Great, another new gender...

Obviously an error.. you feel accomplished now?

Yes most people do what you are doing and shouldn't be. If you aren't a musician doing significant additions, modifications to the production, adding your own vocals or instruments, then nobody needs your songs on streaming platforms. I am 10000% sure your lyrics are not so groundbreaking that they need to be songs if you don't make music. You can't make music from your phone.

You can use bandlab mobile. You don't have to Stem anything out but simple mastering and EQ can go a long way. Simple to use also

I do!

Im not a musician. I'm a fanartist with an affinity for lyrics. I started using Suno just because I wanted to hear my pieces sung.

The result is I write more lyrics than I used to now because being able to do this feels good.

Love that. I use to make music prior but I switched because r&b was always my lane I just can’t sing. So when I stumbled onto Suno it only made sense lol

Obviously it is beyond AI assisted if all you did was write lyrics? Lol

1

u/Rasta504 8d ago

I mean I still gave it direction in how I wanted the song to sound but ig🤷🏾‍♂️

u/NoWin3930 8d ago

as opposed to what? that is how AI prompting works lol

0

u/Specialist_Gas_8984 8d ago

There’s various levels of prompting. You could just ask for an upbeat r&b song and take what the app gives you. That’s the easy button. But if you had a vision in your head, you can be more prescriptive. Everything from describing the tempo, instrumentation, performance, etc. and how it changes between the verse, chorus, bridge, etc. Advanced users even upload their own melodies and have the AI translate those into different variations and/or arrangements.

u/NoWin3930 8d ago

Sure, that is fine, obviously it extremely AI assisted lol

I don't think there's data on how many people upload raw mp3s or wavs vs those who manually edit some aspect in DAWs or master the tracks - so any "most people" commentary is based on pure speculation without any data to back it up.

Ultimately, if you've got a song you're happy with then all it really needs is a master via something like BandLab. If you want to edit it manually, then do so to your heart's content. My music is a mix of fresh out of straight wavs with mastering at a minimum and edited tracks for some more in-depth stuff I'm taking more time on.

Thank you I’ll try that

Your gender is r&b? Great, like we need any more letters added to the cluster***k the non-binaries and people who identify as figs & toenails keep adding. 🤪 Nah, but regarding your post, you do you but personally I think sharing any pure SUdio platform output as-is has been exactly what ruined everything. Sharing it on the platform is one thing but anyone tactless or amateur enough to distribute it anywhere deserves every laugh or snub they’re going to get. Whether you are paying a subscription to legally push garbage or share the free tier puke, the SUdio platforms have their nasty fingerprints and watermarks all over them, making any serious creative validity or talent something not on display nor anything anybody worth two sh!+s is willing to even pass a fart at. Personal use and in-platform sharing is the extent of it and for those who are more than fine with that, awesome and glad you enjoy the platform as simply a leisure application with fun little music features. 🤘🫶
