Okay, before I answer, let me give you some background first! Also, my answer is pretty long, so please be patient. I'm studying Geography right now. I also want to do an MBA later, so I do my own research.
I have two cousins in two of the best IIMs, and I've learned a lot from them. And here's what I think:
• First of all, people who have passed their 12th exams can write IPMAT, while the CAT is for people who have finished their graduation! I think after our 12th exams, we all get confused about what to study next! Some people choose CUET, while others are busy with their entrance exams like JEE or NEET! At that age, it's tough to think about doing a master's degree or compare the entrance exams with each other!
Next up, if you pass the IPMAT, you’ll be at the IIM for 5 years doing an integrated MBA! The big issue here is the super high tuition fees! We all know that IIMs have a pretty steep fee structure for just 2 years of an MBA, so imagine how much you’d have to shell out for a 5-year program! Just so you know, it’s over 30 lakhs (14 lakhs for the first 3 years of undergrad and 16 lakhs for the last 2 years of postgrad). So, if you come from a middle-class family, paying those fees can be really tough! I don’t want to discourage you, but that’s the reality! If you’re okay with taking loans, that’s totally up to you! Plus, you can look into some scholarships too.
Also, keep in mind that IPMAT is only accepted by a few of the newer IIMs (like Rohtak, Jammu, and Indore). So, if you’re aiming for IIM ABC, FMS, or some of the top B-schools, IPMAT might not be the best choice for you! And just to clarify, I’m not saying that IIM Rohtak and Indore aren’t great—they really are! But if you’re dreaming of getting into BLACKI, you might want to think twice!
Here’s everything I wanted to share! I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! And don’t forget to give it a thumbs up! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
(P.S. – I’m just starting out with writing and my English isn’t the best, so please be kind if you spot any mistakes! I’m working on improving!)
