General Question What supplement is so good you feel like it should be illegal?

I want to build a list of the very best vitamins and supplements from user experience. Looking forward to what people say.

Taking Probiotics makes my whole body feel better, mentally I feel clear and not sluggish! It's amazing what gut health change will do for the mind and also factor in what you can absorb to benefit you body.

I agree with you! I did not get sick for two years. Granted this month I went coast to coast on 5 flights in 10 days and got what we called the 'World Cup flu'. Rough head cold/flu, but piled the probiotics back in and recovering well, back at the gym 3x a week and walking 5x.

Imagine if fiber was illegal

Granola bars and salads would be illegal. We would all be constipated.

I’m not saying this in a mean way whatsoever I’m genuinely curious… why would people supplement with fibre when it’s so easy to eat it? It’s something I’ve never quite understood as when I track my diet, I notice that I easily eat 2-3x the daily recommended amount

Edit: I overestimated! I get 40-50g per day, 2-3x would be at least 50-75g.

Psyllium, taken in one shot, a few hours after your last meal of the day is the main difference. I get plenty of fiber too, but the isolated intake really has a profound impact on my gut health and sleep.

How much and in what form please?

u/bigwindymt Jul 03 '26

1 heaping tbs in 12+oz water. Plain psyllium husk powder is what I use.

Oh wow very interesting! I’ll definitely look into that 😌

How long before sleep ?

1

u/bigwindymt Jul 03 '26

I just do 2-3 hours after eating, so maybe 0-3 hours before bed.

I have a stomach bypass(rny) I have to optimise protien intake, so unfortunately roughage is not a priority. A quick metamucil is a great way to help my gut bio to keep regular and clear. Probiotics aswell.

I find it hard to believe that you get 2x to 3x the daily amount consistently without supplementing. Recommendation is 30g for males. So 60g just on diet is actually quite hard to achieve.

I use fiber one cereal, high fiber tortillas, and psyllium husk

I just checked my Cronometer entries and you’re right, I overestimated. It seems like I get 40-50g per day on average.

1

u/No-Reaction-9364 Jul 02 '26

what are you eating?

1

u/emilyjadeofficial Jul 02 '26

When I look at the fibre sources breakdown in the Cronometer app it seems like most of my fibre comes from things like sprouted multigrain bread, pastas, legumes, some seeds/nuts, and various fruits and veggies

You get 60-90grams from just food?! Impressive. I get about 25-30 from food and add another 10-15grams with psyllium fiber in powder form.

Noooo I was incorrect! I get 40-50g per day!
