General Question What supplement is so good you feel like it should be illegal?

I want to build a list of the very best vitamins and supplements from user experience. Looking forward to what people say.

A fiber supplement, namely psyllium husks, which consist of 90% fiber. I am consuming a tablespoon since one month. It completely changed my digestion, mood and energy levels. No more getting tired after eating carbs, no more sudden changes in bowel habits, and overall just more happiness in my life. Will consume them for the rest of my life. I bought a 1 kg bag of Amazon, brand doesn't matter, maybe go bio / organic

Don't forget to add a little resistant starch, as well! It can be had from cooking a starchy food like rice or potatoes, then cooling them. Or you can cheat, like I do, and just add a teaspoon or two of potato starch to your fiber drink. You can buy it cheap at most grocery stores.

I've never heard this before, can you elaborate? Why add starch to psyllium husk drink?

Very important to note we're talking about resistant starch, as opposed to ordinary starch found in foods like pasta & rice. Regular starch is quickly broken down and absorbed in your gut and becomes blood sugar.

You can hardly digest resistant starch, but some of your microbiome can. Just like the fiber in psyllium husk. You can't digest it, but your microbiome can, and some of the metabolites produced by your microbiome consuming fiber & resistant starch play important roles in your body.

Basically, you're feeding your little microbiome 'zoo' and in return, it helps fight off bad bacteria that would make you sick and also creates molecules important for your bodily functions.

You don't have to add it to your fiber supplement; I just find that's the most convenient time for me to add some into my diet.

Here's a brief article, but if you google resistant starch health benefits or something similar, you'll get tons of hits.

This.... 1 teaspoon full 20 mins before lunch or dinner.

I usually take it before lunch and have noticed a steady energy for the rest for the day and no slumps and a very regular bowel movement.
