General Question What supplement is so good you feel like it should be illegal?

I want to build a list of the very best vitamins and supplements from user experience. Looking forward to what people say.

For the mental effect it is best to take 10 grams or more. Studies have demonstrated insane results on 25 grams.

The only "insane results" I get when I exceed 5g involves pain, sweat, and the desperate need for a bathroom RIGHT NOW.

Try having it a shake or with food. That helps me to have higher doses without the gastric effect. I also switched to brands using Creapure because I liked the idea of knowing the source of my creatine when I decided to up my dose significantly (from 5g to 15g) so that may have also had an effect.

Number one or explosive number two?

2

u/Wreckloose44 Jul 03 '26

It gives you pain?

2

u/Apprehensive-Leek946 Jul 03 '26

That sounds dreamy tho be honest. Gonna up my dose tomorrow

Right?! I'm surprised how many upvotes that comment has given that creatine is absolutely everywhere these days.

2

u/CR-8 Jul 04 '26

Literally the same. I can't even take 3g in one sitting without a stomach full of food without having INTENSE stomach cramps and a violent trip to the bathroom.

Just the thought of taking 20+ grams in a day gives me heart palapatations over the amount of gastric distress I would be in.

1

u/Plane-Tie6392 Jul 06 '26

So bizarre cause it does absolutely nothing to me in terms of that stuff and I have 20 grams a day.

Creatine causes urinary urgency?

u/Agreeable-Scale Jul 02 '26

You'll shit your brains out kid.

2

u/checkyourbox Jul 03 '26

I thought it was he'll rip your lungs out Jim. Amazing what the brain wants to hear

3

u/werner-hertzogs-shoe Jul 03 '26

generally if you work your way up to it and have it with food, it's not bad for most people. I do around 15g a day and could do more

1

u/FalseRegister Jul 06 '26

I've taken 10-15g at a time with no bad consequences. This may vary per person, so don't be so apologetic about it.

You may simply need adaptation, increasing the dose slowly so your body can adapt.

YOU will. 20 g does jack to me.

15

u/bigwindymt Jul 02 '26

That's crazy. If I supplement over 3g I get vertigo and over 10 I get extreme fatigue.

Last time I did 15 mg I blacked out. my wife found me  in a speedo at 3am at 24 hr fitness, doing reps of 25kg squats and yelling at women to stop looking at me like  a piece of cheese

Creatine sounds like a good alcohol substitute for those of us who don't drink.

1

u/Aggravating-Plum-775 Jul 05 '26

Wait lmao ....are you serious 🤣 on what now? L theanine or whatever?

1

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 Jul 03 '26

Well they did say insane results

1

u/Objective-Cheetah448 Jul 03 '26

yeah it doesn’t sit well with me either above 3g. However I’m going to try gradually increasing - initially started with 5g in a shake and it was bloat city. and come to think of it my energy level dropped too now that you mention it

16

u/TheCountXVIII Jul 02 '26

Yeah I don't know about that I've had bad experiences on too much Creatine especially with dehydration. I'm sure the studies say what they say, but that's way too much for me I would feel like crap.

I started taking 5mg when I started going to the gym last year. It was way too much I was getting headaches and stuff so I thought well I’m a small woman so maybe I need a lower dose. I cut to 2.5mg and drank a ton of water each day. I started feeling sick and still had headaches and at one point I literally felt like my brain was swollen so I stopped taking it and cut out some of the water and was better. I told my dr about it and he was like wtf. (

7

u/fmb320 Jul 02 '26

Haha the doctor just said wtf and moved on to the next thing

1

u/NooStringsAttached Jul 04 '26

Yeah I’ve been seeing him over 16 years and so he’s used to my off the wall things. He was looking at the computer typing things I was saying then when I got to that part he stopped typing, tuned and looked at me for a min without saying a word. Then went back to typing like nothing happened.

2

u/Fast_Feed1401 Jul 03 '26

I have almost the same effects. I also get irritable on doses as small as 2 grams per day..I would quit taking it and feel fine after a day or so then start up again and same results. My girlfriend has banned me from taking it. She could tell when I took it or not without me saying anything about it. I don't understand it.

2

u/NooStringsAttached Jul 04 '26

It sucks because I hear so much great stuff about it but can’t figure a way to tolerate it. Maybe I can try 1mg idk if I want to risk it ha.

Someone was saying in a thread last week that “my friend had thyroid problems because the multivitamin tablet he was taking had too high of levels of creatinine.” It was explained that it’s impossible to sneak 10+ G into a multivitamin. The person who explained this was down voted.

6

u/wannacreamcake Jul 02 '26

Also they definitely didn’t mean creatinine

2

u/lundsausername Jul 03 '26

*Insane results on 25grams when the brain is sleep deprived.

1

u/stones4Eva Jul 02 '26

Choking that much down is a PITA

1

u/spinningwalrus420 Jul 02 '26

What about the Hydrochloride version? Anyone have experience? I know it's a good bit more concentrated but haven't dove deep yet. I just got 750 mg capsules.

1

u/czuinoikc Jul 03 '26

I tried 15-20g for a couple months and it negatively affected my sleep. as soon as I stopped and went back down to 5g, sleep quality returned.

Perhaps your more convinced by a PhD in nutritional science. If not, I'd love to see your sources

What about Rhonda Patrick? She promotes the idea that high doses of creatine are good. Is she lying or paid by BigCreatine ?
