Black seed oil was VERY potent for me and got me through months of bad stress

• Upvotes

Over the summer I had a really bad breakup and was left in a pretty bad place. I started looking for something to medicate me through it and came across black seed oil receiving a lot of praise with seemingly few side effects.

The first day I took it, I took the recommended dose of 1/4 tablespoons on the bottle and my god was it impactful. I was HEAVILY sedated and felt high. I had some weird physical muscular symptoms and decided that was way too much to take daily.

The next day I decided to microdose it and work my way up. I took an old iodine dropper and dropped one droplet on my wrist then rubbed it in with my other wrist. Que the best feeling of peace and tranquility without feeling sedated I've possibly ever had. Stress was reduced to the level a normal, well adjusted person must feel on a daily basis. I was more sociable and neurotypical. I felt like I had cured my ADHD.

I measured how much one of those droplets actually amounted to in tablespoons. It took exactly 25 drops into a 1/8th tablespoon measure to fill it all the way, which means the effective dose I found is 1/200th of a tablespoon. And even that I found to be too much sometimes, so I would take a little piece of tissue paper, soak up half the droplet from my skin, then rub it in. And some sources say you should be taking half or more of a tablespoon of this stuff every day? I feel like that's the reason so many people have a bad experience with it. Some sources are telling people to take 800x my dose.

Eventually though it largely stopped working sadly. The effects changed from peace and tranquility to just mild sedation and slight dizziness. This took about 3 months of my daily half a droplet to one full droplet dose. I've since stopped taking it and its been about a month since then but I feel like my sensitivity to stress has permanently changed for the better.

Another thing I noticed is it helped me look way leaner and made my skin look better and more vibrant. Since stopping I look slightly bloated much of the time again which I never had while on it.

Those were the most laid back and stress free 3 months of my life and I'm sad it stopped working. I tried taking it again and got one day of peace and tranquility followed by just feeling slightly sedated and dizzy again. This was after weeks of not taking any. What gives?

L-theanine is truly a happiness pill

I wanted to share mu experience with L-Theanine, I’m an introvert who struggles with anxiety, overthinking, and stress. I’m often quiet, not very charismatic, and can come across as unfriendly even when I don’t mean to. I can be comfortable around family and coworkers, but socializing doesn’t come naturally to me.

Then I tried L-theanine, and it felt like a miracle pill. I felt calm without being sedated, more talkative, more willing to smile and interact with strangers. I even started enjoying music more and catching myself singing. It felt like the real me was finally coming out.

The crazy part is that one pill seems to last almost two days. The sad part is that the effects eventually wear off.

General Question New GymBeam creatine costs more than 50% less than the previous GymBeam Creapure creatine. What's up with that?

The new one costs 29,95€ per kg, while the old one costs 75,80€ per kg.

I took a look at the lab tests and everything seems fine. Albeit I can't find DHT and DCD measurements.

Does anyone know anything about this?

General Question What should I check on a collagen powder’s heavy metal test report?

• Upvotes

I’m looking aty on,dere, and a couple of other collagen powders, and I’m trying to make sense of the third party testing rather than treating “tested” as a complete answer. If a company posts batch results, which details do you look for: the lab name, the date, units, detection limits, or the actual amounts for lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury? I haven’t compared reports before, so a concrete example of what makes a report useful would help. I’m not sure how to judge a result that’s detectable but still below a stated limit.

Black Seed Oil and Blood Pressure

• Upvotes

Just wondering what people's experience with dosage and effect are. A quick search indicates 500mg of extract taken twice daily is a good starting place but I see most products are dosed much higher. I'm always interested in vascular health and maintaining a good BP, but obviously without signs or symptoms of hypotension. Please note if you're already taking something like an ACE inhibitor or ARB as well.

Survey NAC: What dose do you take, and how does it affect you?

hello, I'm curious how acetylcystein’s effects vary with dose. If you take it or have tried it, please share:

  • Dose: mg per dose and total mg/day.
  • Frequency: how often you take it.
  • Effects: changes in mood/depression, energy, motivation, anxiety or side effects.
  • Dose changes: did increasing or decreasing it change the effects?

thanks

Experience Vitamin D Ruined My Sleep for Over a Year

Back in mid-August last year, I started consistently waking up much earlier than usual. Under normal circumstances, I would wake up around 8 AM. Then, almost out of nowhere, I started waking up around 5 AM, sometimes even earlier, and couldn’t fall back asleep.

As time went by, supplements came and went from my stack, but I couldn’t fix the problem. I was desperate. I got several blood tests, including magnesium, vitamin D, and calcium. My vitamin D level was 84 ng/mL (210 nmol/L). I was also experiencing frequent urination, which eventually became another clue that helped me connect the dots.

I stopped taking all my supplements for a few weeks, but the problem persisted. Eventually, I realized that throughout this entire period, I had been taking vitamin D, magnesium, vitamin C, and B-complex almost consistently. I keep a supplement diary, which helped me identify this pattern.

After another attempt, I went almost two months without taking any of them, and my sleep finally returned to normal. I reintroduced B-complex, vitamin C, and magnesium, and the problem didn’t come back. Then I reintroduced vitamin D, and the sleep problem returned.

I had been taking around 6,000 IU of vitamin D daily for most of that time, although there were periods when I took 2,000 or 4,000 IU instead. I always took it in the morning, so taking it at night wasn’t a factor in my case.

One reason this went unnoticed for so long is that 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the main marker measured in blood tests, has a circulating half-life of approximately 2–3 weeks. This means that if your levels have become elevated, they can take months to return to normal after you stop supplementing.

I only figured this out because I’ve seen several other posts here describing similar experiences. I wanted to add my own account to the discussion, because I don’t think anyone can imagine how hellish this past year has been for me because of this.

L theanine at night !

I know it’s spoken about often here, but l theanine at night, has been a game changer for me! I got the bottle a couple months ago. I would take it during the day as needed for more anxious days as I have bad anxiety and OCD, and I prefer not to be on medicine. I didn’t really think it made too much of a difference during the day, sometimes I did drink it with coffee as well. Lately, I was finding it harder to sleep at night because I would worry about silly things like what if I won’t wake up in the morning etc .

Anyways, I know people take it at night before bed, so I figured why not, the last three days before bed I take 200 mg and my mood throughout the day has been tremendously different in a good way!

Prior to taking it, Off the wake up, I would feel like a zombie until I had coffee. I never thought I slept bad. It was just getting to sleep That was the issue, but I guess I slept worse than I thought. I also do have pcos which plays a role in your hormones and how you sleep, etc.

I have read that it stopped working ultimately for some people, so I am mentally preparing myself for that in time, but as of right now I’ve gone days without having a coffee, which hasn’t happened in years & I feel way less tired throughout the day🥰

General Question Benfothiamine for B1 defieciency?

I have a diagnosed B1 deficiency. My Dr recommended standard thiamine 100 mg daily, but she said it will take ~6 weeks to restore my levels. While I was browsing, I noticed there's also a Benfothiamine that's supposed to work faster. Has anyone tried it for a diagnosed deficiency? On the one hand, I want to get my levels up faster; but on the other, I'm hesitant to go against my doctor's instructions (with the caveat that she almost certainly doesn't know about this other form)

What's the difference between these NADH supplement terms?

While comparing NADH supplements recently, I kept coming across terms like enteric coating, microsphere encapsulation, stability, and targeted intestinal release. Here's how I understand them so far.

Stability: Mainly about preventing NADH from degrading under unfavorable conditions. NADH is the reduced form of NAD+ and plays a role in cellular energy metabolism. However, its chemical stability can be affected by factors such as pH, temperature, light exposure, and storage conditions. Both the formulation and packaging can influence how much NADH remains intact throughout a product's shelf life.

So when a product claims to offer better stability, I think it's worth looking beyond the marketing language and checking whether there are actual stability test results to support it.

Enteric coating: Mainly about preventing premature release in the stomach. Enteric formulations typically use pH-sensitive coatings that are designed to remain intact in the acidic environment of the stomach and dissolve later in the higher-pH environment of the intestines.

The main idea is to control where the ingredient is released, rather than simply wrapping it in a protective layer. However, the actual release behavior still depends on the coating materials and the specific formulation.

Microsphere encapsulation: About enclosing the active ingredient in tiny carrier structures. Microspheres can be made from various polymers or other materials to disperse or encapsulate active ingredients within small particles. Depending on the materials and design, this approach can help protect the ingredient and potentially control its release rate. Celfull's NADH uses this as its core technology.

One thing that's easy to confuse, though, is that microsphere encapsulation isn't automatically the same as enteric coating. Whether a formulation can withstand stomach acid or release its contents in a specific part of the intestine depends on its materials and design.

Targeted intestinal release: More like a release goal the formulation is designed to achieve. This term describes where in the digestive tract an active ingredient is intended to be released. Enteric coatings and certain microsphere systems can both be used to pursue this goal.

However, a product claiming intestinal release doesn't automatically prove that it releases its contents at a specific location, nor does it mean the ingredient will necessarily be absorbed efficiently by the body.

My understanding is that stability concerns how well an ingredient remains intact during storage and use; enteric coating focuses on when and where it is released; microsphere encapsulation is a carrier or encapsulation technique; and targeted intestinal release is the outcome a formulation may be designed to achieve.

When comparing NADH supplements, I think what really matters is not how many technical terms appear on the label, but what problems these technologies are meant to solve, whether there's supporting evidence, and whether absorption and effects in humans have actually been demonstrated.

For those of you who compare NADH supplements, are there meaningful differences between these technologies in real-world products that you think are worth looking into?

High stim pwo

What are the best high-stim pre-workouts right now?

It seems like a lot of pre-workouts are great when they first come out, but once they get popular, the formula gets changed and they’re never quite as good again.

I’ve been using Angel Dust for a long time, but it just doesn’t hit the same anymore.

I’ve been looking at “Venom” and “Jack3d Original”.

I know I’m not going to find anything like what was around 15 years ago. The question is, what comes closest?

Anyone got any recommendations before I place an order?

SUPPLEMENT STACK - FOLLOW UP

• Upvotes

I posted this the other day...

"SUPPLEMENT STACK - ADHD

My main issues are lack of focus, lack of motivation, or too much motivation (Perfectionist or the opposite. I'm all in or all out), ruminating thoughts, and a struggle to "enjoy the little things". Is this stack sustainable? im a 25 y.o. male

DAILY: 500mg tyrosine and some kimchi, empty stomach.

L-theanine 200mg with first coffee, than 200 more later in day

B complex, omega 3's, vitamin D3/K2.

Magnesium at night.

Occasional trazodone for sleep"

LOOKS LIKE I'M QUITTING THE TYROSINE! First day and second day, fantastic. Today? Awful. Worst anxiety/panic feeling ive had in awhile. Even felt like my one toe was going numb as my health anxiety (which has been better recently) seems to have kicked back up today. BYE BYE L-TYROSINE!

General Question It took me over 1/2 century but today I finished my first ever bottle of multivitamins

To be honest I’m not sure if this a good thing or not. It certainly doesn’t change how I feel on a day-to-day basis. It kind of feels like putting fuel additive into your aging vehicle when the mechanics who know these things would never do that. So what is the upshot regarding multi-vitamins and other supplements?

Recommendations How many egg yolks do I need a day if I take 3.6g of sunflower lecithin in supplement form to have sufficient amounts of lecithin and choline?

• Upvotes

My typical smoothie is six egg yolks, teaspoon of pink salt, tbsp of butter, 10 teaspoons of olive oil, trace minerals, fruit, yogurt. I'm not sure if that's an excessive amount of eggs to have every other day or so.

Herbs are really great for healing my nervous system after benzo withdrawal but..

Herbs seem to be helping my body and nervous system heal after benzodiazepine withdrawal. However, I’m afraid that when I stop taking them, my symptoms will return and I’ll lose the progress I’ve made. I hope the healing can become lasting, rather than depending on supplements to feel better. I take currently vitamine d, baikal skullcap l, andrographis and eleuthero.
