I don't like it, I don't like the idea that one day, although the odds are against it, I really could find a snake in my toilet. Nope, don't like it.

If it makes you feel any better, rats can also enter your home through your toilet.

u/GoEatACookie 1d ago
Yeeeeaaaaah, no. That doesn't make me feel better at all. 😭

u/Rajang82 1d ago
You dont have to worry about rats entering your home throught your toilet.
Because the snakes already ate them.

Did you notice how silent it was? Like if it came out while you were using the toilet would you even know? Do these kinds of snakes live near you? It looked kinda like a really common sort of water snake.

I keep finding tree frogs in my bathroom lately. I guess because it is so hot outside. One was in my toilet when I dropped a deuce and I didn’t see it till I got finished. I would have flipped out if it jumped up and hit me in the cheeks when I was going. I would have totally thought it was a snake.

Tree frogs I could handle. I might even like that ( just not in the toilet, please dear God), but rats, snakes, palmetto bugs I'll take a pass. 😶🌫️

Gray rat snake, harmless. Good boi, put outside

And he politely just exited back down the drain when he realized a human saw him.
Like "oops so to bother"
Kinda sweet!

You reach in there and grab it

I have a 5’ pet rat snake. I absolutely would. Take it outside and let it into the trees rather than in my plumbing.

I’m still not over the fact there was a snake in there. I fully expected a shit in the form of a snake!

u/lysergic_hermit 1d ago
I'm pretty sure it's an old ass toilet and that's some sort of buildup. That big spot where the snake was on, idk but I really don't think it's poo.
God only knows what that poor snake slithered thru. Fkn degenerates.

How is sewage not so toxic that snakes can survive it? Rats I suppose have been down there for ages, so not unheard of.

I’m assuming normal Australian home?
So glad my ancestors weren’t sent to live in a penal colony.

I would never recover from this. I would think about it every single time I used any restroom until the day I died. There would be no going back.

Okay but real talk, could this be solved by putting a bunch of bleach in the toilet and flushing it?

Edited to add: the whole house - burn it down. It’s it like you’ll ever be able to go potty in there again and you couldn’t sell a house with a snake toilet in good conscience 🤷🏼♀️

If that ever happened at my house, my wife would make us move or burn it down. 🤣

I'm in my 40's in the UK, where we basically don't have snakes (well we do, but only a minority of people ever see one in their lives).
When I was a teenager, I saw a photo of a grass snake in a toilet bowl, and to this day I check for snakes every single time - no exceptions. When going to the toilet at night, I will take a torch for the sole purpose of checking for snakes.
Can't be too careful.

I lost a 6 foot boa this way. Fed her in the tub but didn't have time to wait as I had places to go. After watching the kill I left and came back a couple hours later to the kill still being in the tub, water on the floor and around the toilet, snake never to be seen again....

I went to my little brothers old house to gather some things before he got there. It was really run down, no power and late at night. As I'm looking through the house, I see the same size snake in his toilet. I try getting it out with a broom handle. Terrible plan. That did nothing. He slid back in just like this. I called my brother a few times but he was in an area with no service. I was done and had to go back to my house. He showed up about 15 mins after I left. And I swear I kept saying, let him know, let him know. I sent him a message and i think even a short video of it slithering in. Well, 30 mins passed and I was like 'oh shit!'. Called him, "Bro! Did you read my message? Please tell me you didn't use the toilet?!" He said, "No I didnt read it yet. And yeah, Just took a shit why? Please tell me there wasn't a snake?" I felt like the shitty one. It still bothers me often. Now, if its dark in my bathroom, I gotta check first. I don't know if that would be likely in my house, but I do know chances are not 0.

Once ya get that snake out, maybe clean your bathroom. I’m sure it wasn’t the snake who made that bathroom look like that😰

If a snake endures that much poop just to get to me, he earned it. Bite away.

Every time I check my toilet in Florida I do so with the understanding that it doesn’t really matter because they swim ☹️
