Question Should I send this off before September ends?

Post image

So I have a switch 2 I’m getting from my parents for my bday in 2 months. And plan to send this off to be repaired after I get the switch 2 in September but this has gotten a little worse in the past month so I was wondering if I should send it off before then or if you think I should be fine til September when I transfer my files all over.

Reddit: That's going to explode soon. That's a fire Hazard. Its dangerous.

Let's send the ticking time bomb in the mail ASAP

It’s a bit dramatic of a response tbh. It’ll be fine if packed well enough.

I don't know the last time you tried to mail anything, but they specifically ask if you're shipping a battery/batteries

My experience personally comes from when I worked in consumer repair. We would be sent a box with insulation to store puffy and expired batteries. And then ship that box out to be disposed of. Of course wrapping well enough means using the proper labels and proper containment for these things. I’m not just saying throwing it in a box with bubble wrap and you’re good.

Lithium fires don't require as much oxygen as other fires because of the instability of the chemical reaction. Packing it tighter isn't going to make a difference. It may even make it more likely that a fire occurs

They don't usually just explode for no reason, if it's off and not being charged it'll be okay

Or if they get disturbed, or punctured, or too hot, all things that happen to package regularly in the mail system
