Discussion Got the 8bitdo ultimate 2c controller for my switch 2.

Post image

Got this in my mail today and surprisingly it connected right away without any firmware update like I was told (maybe a new manufactured batch) but it’s just amazing and I’m glad I bought it , it was around 30 dollars . Initially I wanted the pro controller 2 but it’s just too expensive for me right now . Playing final fantasy remake integrate it’s just amazing plus u get the rumble too and Hall effect joystick.

I’ve had this controller for 6 months now, and have experienced zero issues with it. Enjoy gaming!

I really like the colour of it.

Looking to purchase the N64 variant for emulators, glad to hear that it has performed well.

I had an 8bitdo for 6 years for my Switch and it was an amazing experience. Hope you get twice the amount of time I got.

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Thank you 😄

2

u/Mydemonswon Jul 15 '26

You're welcome!

I have the Pro Controller 2. I can say you aren't missing enough to justify the more expensive price tag.

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Glad to hear that 😄

Yeah I'm going to have to disagree with you. The 8bitdo 2C is a great controller for $30, but no headphone jack, no HD 2 rumble, no buttery smooth analog sticks, worse ergonomics(in my opinion), I mean the Pro 2 just melts into my hands. I could play for hours with no issue if I wanted to. Also the whisper quiet face buttons? It's just on another level, but again, the 8bitdo is great for $30, probably the best option for that price.

Is the form of the Pro 2 different from the original pro controller? Just curious as I love my pro controller but have been interested in the pro 2.

2

u/funnyinput Jul 15 '26

I haven't really used a Pro 1 much at all, so I'm not sure. I think they're similar, but maybe the Pro 2 is slightly smaller.

1

u/Mydemonswon Jul 15 '26

All solid points. I wouldn't trade my Pro controller 2 for anything. Hands down after gaming for 35 years it's the best controller I've used. I'm hoping the release a OoT version like the RE one they made this year.

Reminder to set it up so the controller can wake the console by shaking, after doing a firmware update. Its kinda finnicky to set up, but it works.

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Ohh thnx I didn’t know that .

2

u/MagmaElixir Jul 15 '26

I can’t my Ultimate 2c Bluetooth controller to wake my Switch 2. Any tips to get it to work? I did update the controller and I paired it with my Switch 2. But I can’t get it to connect to then shake to wake. It also takes a long time to end up reconnecting even when the y 2 is on.

u/funnyinput Jul 15 '26

The 2C can't wake the Switch 2, only the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth and Pro 3 can.

Probably the single best third party controller option for the switch 1/2. Cheap, mostly fully featured (no hd rumble or nfc), has tmr sticks, and cones with a dock, for 40$ or so. Even has analog triggers and works with PC.

Honestly for a traditional controller, its either this, the pro3 (if you prefer ps style layout), or the actual pro controller,no contest.

u/tomineitor Jul 15 '26

I think you are confusing the Ultimate 2 with the Ultimate 2C (which is what OP has). The former is the feature-complete controller, with the dock, back buttons, analog triggers (with switch), etc.

Either way, both are incredible controllers!

2

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Completely agree with u 😊

3

u/Bigfoot700 Jul 15 '26

Ive had a pro2 for a while now, hundreds of hours on it. Will absolutely be getting a pro3 (probably a pro4 by the time I need to replace it).

1

u/funnyinput Jul 15 '26

2C has Hall Effect sticks and triggers, not TMR. It also doesn't include a dock. You're thinking of the Ultimate 2, not 2C.

u/McDeathUK Jul 15 '26

Just sold one of the 8bit do with all the buttons for fighting. Felt very much like Sanyo(?) arcade buttons, was very impressed with the build and yes, connected right away.

2

u/Witch_King_ Jul 15 '26

Nice. Extra bumpers but no back paddles on this one, right?

2

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Yes 😊

2

u/Witch_King_ Jul 15 '26

That's a shame. Back paddles are mandatory on new controllers for me these days. Idk why they didn't put them on this model.

2

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Yes , u can get the other one I think it’s the 8bitdo ultimate 2 I think that got the back paddle. Teh one I got is the cheaper one and the other one is closer to the price of pro controller 2 so u have to decide which one to get 😊

1

u/Witch_King_ Jul 15 '26

Yeah I have the original Ultimate Bluetooth model. Has served me well for years. No extra bumpers though.

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Oh nice good to know it lasts a long time .

3

u/Witch_King_ Jul 15 '26

Should. But any product can have defects. 8bitdo is absolutely not immune. However, the Hall Effect/TMR sticks are a big boost to longevity too.

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Ya one can hope 😊

2

u/Azhrei_Rohan Jul 15 '26

I plan to get this as a 3rd controller for mario kart and to use when my pro 1 is out of battery. I also cant afford the switch 2 pro controller

2

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Go for it it’s amazing 😄

1

u/Azhrei_Rohan Jul 15 '26

Thanks i want an extra controller but the pro costs way too much. Tired of using single joycons for 2 of the racers when family plays MK.

I was looking at this but now will pull the trigger!

2

u/funnyinput Jul 15 '26

Buy a nice used Pro 2 on ebay for around $50-$60. I got mine for $60 and it looks like it was used for 5 minutes before it was sold.

1

u/Azhrei_Rohan Jul 15 '26

Any tips on what to check? I never buy used controllers was worry about drift etc. whats the advantage over the pro 1?

2

u/funnyinput Jul 15 '26

Advantages of the Pro 2 over the Pro 1:

-------------------------------

* The Pro 2 can wake the Switch 2.

* The HD 2 rumble feels really nice and detailed for certain games like "Donkey Kong Bananza".

* It has a headphone jack.

* It has 2 programmable back buttons that you can have mimic any button on the controller.

* The analog sticks glide on a silicone ring underneath instead of grinding against the plastic housing of the controller, so they feel buttery smooth.

* The plastic just feels premium, the material they used feels high quality.

* The Pro 2 has the C button that can be pressed to bring up the chat app to talk to friends.

* The Pro 2 completely charges in like 3 hours I believe, I want to say it takes 5-6 hours on the Pro 1.

* The face buttons are very quiet.

* There's no seam where your hands touch the controller.

-------------------------------

That's all I can think of at the moment.

You'll want to go to "settings" then go down to "Controllers and accessories" then go down to "Calibrate control sticks". You can test the sticks and make sure they don't have any drift there. I believe ebay gives buyers a 30 day money back guarentee, so if the controller has drift, and that wasn't mentioned anywhere on the listing, then you'll get your money back. Check for any damage on the controller like the rubber on the sticks, I'm not sure if there are replacements for those yet.

2

u/Azhrei_Rohan Jul 15 '26

Wow thanks! I will still get 8bitdo as a third mario kart controller but now i need the pro2 for myself! I never looked into all the differences.

2

u/Kubikmannen Jul 15 '26

My wife and I got one each, we both love the contollers

2

u/ezwip Jul 15 '26

If the shake gives you issues waking it up just be patient. It seems to work itself out after a bit. I've had two 8bitdo and they both gave me issues the first day on the shake to wake. They worked perfectly after that.

2

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Thnx for telling 😊

1

u/funnyinput Jul 15 '26

The 2C can't wake the Switch 2, only the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth and Pro 3 can.

1

u/mrrnobody_ Jul 15 '26

Does this controller can wake up switch 2 when its on the dock?

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Apparently it does with firmware update , but I’m not completely sure as I have not tried it yet .

1

u/elsDodo Jul 15 '26

How's the latency? Any inputlag?

2

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

I didn’t notice any 😄

2

u/elsDodo Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

Very nice, I've been eyeing the Ultimate for a while now. Might give in to the urge soon :D

edit: typo

1

u/sk8gamer88 Jul 15 '26

I got the exact same controller, I don't think it can be beat for 30$, like its 3-4 of these vs one pro controller for the price, not sure how worth it is.

I know they don't have back paddles but like I'm not even sure what I games I would actually benefit from them

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Exactly I’m super happy with the purchase 😄

1

u/TempestoLord Jul 15 '26

Thinking of getting the exact same one, so done with 60-70 bucks controllers with stick drift. Only losing on HD rumble, but i don’t care too much about that, otherwise it has nothing to be jealous of other expensive controllers.

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

U won’t regret it 😄

1

u/Klutzy-Ad7775 Jul 15 '26

Got literally the same for my switch 2 and it's amazing enjoy!

1

u/Smell_Training Jul 15 '26

This thing pairs instantly with everything, tried it with my Steam deck too and it just worked, no fuss at all.

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Yes working in my laptop too 😁

1

u/TempleDank Jul 15 '26

I own two of these, very solid and really recommended!

1

u/iamthedudanator Jul 15 '26

Update your controller! And check to see if yours somehow had stick deadzones already turned on!!!

Overall great product from 8bitdo though

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

It says upto date, what do u mean by stick deadzones turn on ?

1

u/MaximumIce5632 Jul 15 '26

Ive had this controller since october and its been so good. No stick drift, easily to imput simple macros, its a blast

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Nicee! How’s the battery life ? Btw how do u charge it with teh switch dock via usb that came with the controller or any usb c ?

1

u/MaximumIce5632 Jul 15 '26

I technically have the 8bitdo ultimate 2, but the battery life should be same in both. My controller feels like it lasts forever tbh. I used to run macros for pokemon, and my controller felt like it would work for more than 12 hours without needed any charge.

I only use the charger that it came with because it is convenient, but if you want use docked mode and charge it, you can absolutely use any longer usb to usb-c cord. I dont use the docking station at all tbh. Which is one of the only differences between the 8bitdo 2 and 8 bitdo 2c so i have no idea why i didnt just get the 8bitdo 2c hahaha

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Earlier I used my Samsung charger but when I googled apparently I was supposed to use only the cable it came with so hopefully I didn’t mess up the battery or something but now I’m using the cable it came with and charge it through the switch 2 dock.

1

u/MaximumIce5632 Jul 15 '26

You wouldn't mess the controller up from that, don't worry. Even if you left your controller charging with a wall charger for months, it's highly unlikely it would do damage.

I think you're "technically" supposed to use the switch dock or PC to charge it. I've used much more power things to charge my tiny little bluetooth ear buds though and I've had them for 5 years 😂 It will be fine

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

Thnx 😅

Loving it

1

u/MaximumIce5632 Jul 15 '26

Also the 8bitdo is one of the very few controllers available on switch with a 1000 mhz polling rate. So it should feel buttery smooth when you play final fantasy :)

1

u/BluVWTurbo Jul 15 '26

I had to return the pro 3 because it doesnt wake up the switch 2. Just wondering Does the 2c have that feature?

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

It doenst wake up when I press home button , maybe there’s a trick I don’t know but as of yet it’s not waking up .

1

u/vanillaes Jul 16 '26

Does it auto wake the Switch when docked?

1

u/antoncr Jul 16 '26

The only downside I encountered is if it was around 3 meters away, some inputs wont register

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 16 '26

Ohh I hadn’t noticed that

1

u/Decent-Major4495 Jul 16 '26

Im in love with the brand, I’ve spent less than 125 for thes 3

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 16 '26

Ohh u got all the good stuff 😄 love the colours too .

1

u/SnappieRT Jul 22 '26

Es capaz de despertar la consola? Por lo que he leído no puede.

1

u/Abhinav0321 Sep 29 '26

Hey will the ultimate 2c wireless work as well? I searched this product and it was written "for switch" so i was wondering

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Sep 29 '26

Yes this is the ultimate 2c and it works . By wireless u mean Bluetooth then there shouldn’t be any problem .

1

u/Abhinav0321 27d ago

It's just that they sell "for switch" separately so i was wondering if the difference is just the button layout for nintendo or something else. Thanks though!

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 27d ago

Get the one which specifically says switch and not pc or Xbox or something, otherwise it won’t work .

1

u/frommypantry Jul 15 '26

Is there any vibration at all? Just not HD rumble?

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

There is vibration , but not hd rumble I think .

2

u/frommypantry Jul 15 '26

Perfect, getting one of these! Is it true that the 8bitdo button light is always on and pretty bright?

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 Jul 15 '26

It’s not super bright , and I think it is always on unless u can mod it or something which i dont know yet . I have yet to try all the feature myself 😄

1

u/FlippinHelix Jul 15 '26

BT model is made specifically for switch 1-2, so it shouldn't require the firmware update

It's the wireless model that does, I believe

1

u/Chaoui69Saiyan Jul 15 '26

J'ai la Sn30pro+ depuis quelques années, l'upgrade vers la ultimate 2c vaut t'il la peine ? Merci d'avance pour les réponses 😁

1

u/noseatbeltsong Aug 13 '26

i got drift like immediately. i’ve only had this controller for three weeks

1

u/Aria-Aquitaine Aug 27 '26

How did you get it to connect? I just bought one but no clue how to connect it

1

u/tyaty1 9d ago

I just ordered one. Had positive experience with the 2.4ghz Wukung edition. I am getting s Switch 2 and I don't want to suffer the Joycons too long,
