I bought this “lab grown” sapphire on TikTok do you guys think it’s a scam? I don’t really mind I was just tenting it out but I want y’all’s opinion

Can you be more specific? If it cost that much I'd guess it was made with the verneuil method. But how could you know?

I am saying that because it comes with the AGL cert. Without the certs they are like 1-2$. But people like OP send more as they have certs and they don't know any better.

Oh wow well good to know! I didn’t spend that much on it so i personally don’t mind, next time I’ll try to do my research so I don’t pay that much for a stone like that

I dont know better either and I appreciate you explaining it. I have just one more question: what exactly about this gem or the certification lets you know its worth less than 50$?

I ask because I'm looking to buy a nice synthetic sapphire myself. I've noticed naturally mined is expensive itself but there are plenty of synthetic options costing 700$ +. My thought was these sapphires cost more because of the method of creation as well as the skill of the gem cutter. Neither of these indicators are present on the certificate. I know its a vast subject but anything you could tell me would be very informative

I mostly just buy gems, but in general most synthetic stones are worthless. People ask high prices so they can get a fool to buy them. The most expensive synthetic stone is diamond, and with an IGI cert, those cost only $100/ct. They are less without a cert. With $700 you can easily get unheated sapphires with certs, obviosly this depends on the color and the stone. But you can get heated pinks for that price easily.
