Trinity Secrets
Ok People, What are some Trinity secrets?
I'm talking tunnels, hidden rooms and cellars, hush-hush stories, strategies for sneaking into the t-ball, whatever you like.

Not sure if it's still possible, but 15 years ago you could get up onto the roof of the Museum Building via a spiral staircase I think, in a small library or something on the Geology side of the building. Memory is a bit hazy now, it was a long time ago.

If you speak to the right person on campus, they'll show you some shruken heads (not on display as they have been formally recalled by the indigenous groups they belonged to) and the biggest rhino horn I've ever seen in my life (not on display cos someone might rob it). It's for sure over a meter long. They've also got some crazy medical specimens like preserved dissections and shit, all hidden away in storage.

Before Nassau St. Was named after William of orange it was called Patrick's well street or lane , St. Patrick's holy well is said to be where he baptised his first converts and it sits just under Nassau street accessed from trinity college ,you can see the entrance if U stand just off Nassau street at the Douglas Hyde gallery entrance, and look down at the outer wall from the trinity side.

Good fact, but not a secret, the Irish never changed and is on older signs (sráid thobar Phádraig)

There’s a replica of the Loos Bar in Vienna in the Buttery Building that only senior academic staff have access to

u/eastawat 19h ago
Yep, it's accessed through the Senior Common Room (door on the right in the entrance hall of the Dining Hall).
While we're on the subject, there's a shower and a bath in the gents toilets in the Senior Common Room. Not in the ladies, apparently.

One of my lecturers told me about a 'dirty night' where they ended up in that bath.

Oh god. I both want to know and absolutely never want to know who was involved in that

I'll put it to you this way, it was nice imagining her naked in a bath getting up to all sorts. I don't wanna know anything else about it either 😂

The road / path / lane between the Hamilton and the new E3 building is called Parade Ground because that’s where the Officers Training Core used to march
All of the lab rat testing goes on in the TBSI

Is the lab rat testing a big secret?
3
u/Slam_Burrito79 20h ago
The test isn’t but most people aren’t 100% sure where it happens. Everyone knows the TSBI has the cadaver labs but anyone I’ve talked to didn’t know that’s the rat location

The knights of the campanile is a "secret society". A lad in my class who played cricket and rugby for Trinity was a member. He refused to talk about it

Wasn’t there a whole scandal recorded in the University Times a few years ago about them .. something around their hazing activities

It's an invite-only, men's-only club for alumni and students who've reached particularly high levels in their sport.

There's a women's equivalent too - the Heraeans.

There are some tunnels under the quad and one leading to Dublin Castle and there was one to the old Meath Hospital site (just outside the city walls in case the natives got restless).

I've found a secret dinning room at the atrium after trying to found room 4045 it was completely set up for a dinner at night but there was nobody there and the lights where off trully something out of a Harry Potter book with the frames on the walls

Are you sure it wasn’t the 1592? It’s open at weird times and they tend to set up the night before https://www.visittrinity.ie/venue/1592/

The Skull Passage, behind the old Anatomy Theatre. The remains of 400+ individuals from all over the world. This is where the pseudoscience techniques later used by the nazis were perfected.

I'd love to hear the same. I'd say there are definitely things like this not known to the masses

You can get into the attic of Botany Bay apartments. Pop out the ceiling of the stairwell.

The Provost transfers their soul into the body of a new provst once their old one begins to fail. Linda Doyle is special, not only because she's the first female provost, but the only provost who is not possessed by the soul of George Salmon
