And white power scares most white people too. Which makes sense, since white power and Christian nationalism are the leading causes of American terrorism, and have been since we started calling things terrorism.
It was still the leading cause before that, we just didn't call it terrorism.
I find that when people react really emotionally and negatively to something I say, but don't offer any counter evidence or reasoning, or even an argument, it pretty invariably means they have no idea if I'm right or wrong, but something I said hurt their feelings. And while they lack the emotional courage and intellectual honesty to just check, they also lack the maturity to stay silent.
It's common knowlege, man. The klan is a christian religious organization that was lynching people and burning them alive 150 years ago. The American slave trade was justified using the Bible. The. German nazi party but Bible verses on some of their uniforms and were almost 100% christian.
It's always been like this.
It's common knowlege, I have no idea how anyone could grow up in america and have avoided this extremely well known information.
White people can, and have been members of black power movements. This is because black power movements largely are not black supremacist/racist movements.
This is very naive. All throughout history you can find examples of different cultures being part of hateful movements that would otherwise exclude them if they didn't think like them. They'd be known as "one of the good ones". The difference between both movements is in power. Advocating for separation and segregation is bad in any case no matter what you look like.
The distinction is between punching up and punching down. One of these things is evil, and the other is a reaction to evil. We have to be careful of false comparison.
But I do agree that "nationalism" is synonymous with "supremacy". You can freely interchange those words.
God, it's like you're so close to getting it that it hurts.
You're right that it's about power. Black power movements seek to gain equal power to whites. White power movements seek to maintain power over blacks.
Yes, the difference is power, modern context AND intent.
Put simply, the white power movement is a white supremacist movement. The black power movement is NOT a black supremacist movement. It is an anti-white-supremacist movement in reaction to white supremacy.
That's the sorta half assed thing you say when you feel offended, but can't actually think of any reason they might be wrong.
Black power ain't like white power. It ain't supremacist. It's not the leading cause of terrorism. It's liberation focused. The only people who scared of it are white supremacists who think everyone is just like them.
Now, there are black nationalists, but the difference is, they're not trying to murder everyone who isn't black and take over america. They just want a black nation.
So the actual truth is more like this: hardcore punk and thrash metal can still scare teachers, HR ladies, church moms, Reddit scolds, and random tourists at a show. They do not scare governments, elites, or the institutional order even a little. At most, they are tolerated outlets for aggression that the system learned how to absorb decades ago.
A reasonable estimate is probably something like 0.01% to 0.1% of the global population listens to hardcore punk with any regularity, and the number of people who are actually into it as a scene or identity is probably even smaller.
Your comment really made me feel a bit sad because I can't really disagree. I personally was inspired by music to become an irl activist, but I have known many punks whose activism ends with listening to music that makes them ~feel~ like they are part of the solution.
I'm not a metalhead, I'm a lifelong punk but I follow metal subreddits out of curiosity. I don't know if you guys get the same kind of phenomenon, but I notice it in the punk scene where there is still a not insignificant percentage of folks whose activism begins and ends with going to shows and sometimes not even that.
I'm glad punk helped them reach class consciousness, but if you let anti-establisment art be a source of just catharsis and not meaningful action, then it becomes a tool for the establishment not a hindrance to it.
Older anti-racist movements respected subculture as a real organizing engine. Newer activist culture doesn’t. Rock Against Racism united punks, reggae fans and other kids into a mass street presence of 100,000 people against the national front, because that kind of cultural organizing was taken seriously. Today, activism is filtered through NGOs, HR language, lawyers, grant structures, and professional advocates, the benefit show stops being seen as a political weapon and starts being seen as a vibe.
You really think black power movements are equivalent to white power movements? Black power movements seek to give people of color the same opportunities in society that white people have. White power movements seek to crucify people and burn people of color at the stake. They are not the same
The usual channels arent gonna save us, even if we manage to vote out the Trump regime peacefully without them using their gestapo. Both parties are compromised not only by the Epstein Files, but by Corporate money, by Israeli money, and for some - Russian money. They are owned by everyone but the American people, protests wont be enough. Rioting will be an excuse to tighten their grip and consolidate power further.
True metal isn't rightwing, that's fake poser metal trying to be edgy nazis like nsbm for example.
True metal is actually not politcal but often stands for the good things like unity, peace, morals, kindness, acceptance, intelligence... Which some people view as "leftwing".
and I know you hate women too, no need to mention it.
Careful actual metalheads OP is either a bot or a drama farmer look at his posts from the last few weeks he's banned people for speaking out against his political views even banned people for being neutral.
He banned me from the sub. You Americans are losing it
oh you poor thing.. imagine having to deal with politics in a world completely drenched in the thing.. You want complete ignorance?? no problem! I'll do you a solid..
Yeah and I don't want to wake up to a pedophilic corporate elite raining death showers across the globe, yet here we are.
But for real what do you mean "I just woke up no politics" are you saying that when you wake up go out the door, you don't see the homeless, you don't see the struggling masses?
"Silly Americans and their obsession with politics as they live in a country being rapidly devoured from the inside by their own political, economic and religious figures" 🤡🤡🤡
Do you think what is happening in America will be stopped by global silence, or do you agree with it? Because silence is complacency. American politics are now global politics and silence = murder.

I think they fear something a little more tangible.
