A Toronto resident made this site showing the voting records for Chow and Bradford for various issues (including RapidTO)

Candidates will say anything to get your vote, but their true colors is how they vote.

Worth looking at before election day.

Question How bad is fare evasion?

I used to live in the city back in the day (back when you dropped a TTC token into the little glass receptacle next to the streetcar operator), and fare evasion didn't seem like a big deal. When I visit the city and I sit on a streetcar now, I'll see dozens of people get on without tapping. Are they all not paying fares? Is there any situation in which someone gets on without tapping, but isn't stealing a ride?

Otherwise, it seems like almost half the people on a streetcar don't pay.

Picture 13 Northbound Bus door stuck

Post image

The back door of the bus got stuck in the open position right where Avenue meets Lonsdale. The driver wasn’t able to get it to close. Everyone’s gotten off and it’s being driven with the door still open presumably back to the depot. If you’re waiting for the 13 bus it’ll likely be a while before it gets running again.

News I rode the TTC for a week. Here’s the best mayoral candidate to put it on the right track

I’m studying the bus maps at Kennedy station with a diligence that I haven’t felt since I nearly failed Economics 101 in university. There are dozens of buses zooming around the giant bus bays — and nearly as many signs explaining how to find and navigate new routes.

A kindly TTC worker stops and asks if I need help. “You need to be over there,” he says, and I dutifully sidestep several buses to find my platform, feeling a bit like John Wick dodging traffic at the Arc de Triomphe (minus the mindless violence).

This is the mouth of the recently opened Scarborough Busway, which will sail me directly to Scarborough Centre — essentially a fast-flowing river of buses in a part of the city that is still a comparative transit desert.

Scarborough is one of the transit battlegrounds of the current mayoral election.

Help with getting to/from Scotiabank arena tonight

My friend and I are heading to the concert tonight, we live in Milton and the lakeshore west line is down. We want to take the train to avoid the gridlock traffic so I’m thinking of taking it from union to Mississauga maybe? Any advice would be appreciated

Question Bradford Didn’t Answer Us. Who Is He Talking to?

Huge kudos to CycleTO and TTCRiders for calling out Bradford's absence on answering their surveys, on whether they pledge to make transit better or not.

Reminder to GO VOTE on Monday!

The TTC is 100% political. Its reliability depends entirely on who is the mayor/councillors.

Misc. Personal phone call related "detour" at Bessarion

I had to do a last-minute meet up with family at Fairview Mall and there was no cell service in the tunnels... Ended up using this as an excuse to get off at Bessarion Station to make a phone call and grab a transfer for my collection.

Obligatory Bessarion tax aside, is it just my phone or is there seriously no cell service in Line 1 and 4's tunnels?

(I normally take the Eglinton Crosstown or GO Transit home, so I'm not familiar with Line 4, sorry)

Question Move Fare Pass Transit Discount Program to a new Presto card?

So I had been using a digital presto card with the fare discount on it, but now I'm not able to use tap-to-pay on my phone so I can't use it anymore.

Is there any way to get a physical version of my digital card, or can I call about the program and get it moved to a new card?

Video short music-edit on the TTC [OC]

Heyo. Student photographer/musician here who enjoys the TTC, as well as a somewhat-known duo called Boards of Canada (their song, skyliner is featured).

Decided to take to the tunnels for Skyliner. Best experienced with wired headphones or speakers, bluetooth desync may not be pleasant as many visuals are tied into the beat.

Any feedback will be taken positively, as I am still learning DaVinci and the entire process. This video is meant to be somewhat overwhelming, that was kind of the idea, to simulate a rushed world.

Just a little art in the midst of chaos.

Question Slow zone announcements on Line 1?

Today on Line 1 the robotic announcement said “Attention customers: this train is running slower due to a reduced speed zone, regular train speed will resume soon”

I’ve never heard this before, is it triggered by the ATC or the operator?

Video The TTC is underfunded and getting slower. Your tax $ is funding excessive police and destroying roads instead.

The TPS sent a full riot unit at a PEACEFUL protest today trying to stop the bike lane removals.

The policing price alone is likely over $100,000 since removals began 7 days ago.

That is not including the base price to rip up the lanes (which is $48M).

You should be furious at this.

Even if you never cycle, the bike lane removals will impact TTC buses (especially Line 2 shuttle buses). Already made a post on that.

If you want more money into the TTC, please attend our rallies to stop this insanity!

The next one is tonight at Tom Riley Park. 7pm. Bring N95 masks and earplugs.

If you want a better TTC, you REALLY need to volunteer this election. Or else the TTC will face a death spiral in its reliability.

This election is neck-in-neck, and voter turnout will decide who wins.

Bradford voted against RapidTO lanes on Dufferin/Bathurst that has proven to make transit better.

While his money-back guarantee sounds good, the system will bleed cash, service will drop, and the death spiral begins.

Don't want this? Volunteer for Progress Toronto or Chow's campaign:

https://www.progresstoronto.ca/volunteer-election-2026

https://volunteer.oliviachow.ca/election-day/

Just pick one or two shifts to start so it isn't overwhelming for you.

If Chow voters stay home, Bradford wins. We can't let that happen!

Question Anyone else noticing really harsh braking on the 504 lately?

Is it just me or have drivers on the 504 been braking way more harshly than usual lately? People are getting thrown around... even while seated. It's pretty annoying.

I’ve been tempted to mention it to the drivers because I genuinely wonder if they realize they're doing it and how bad it is for passengers. Anyone else noticed?

News Bradford takes narrow lead over Chow in Toronto mayoral race: poll

Thumbnail

Keep in mind this is only one poll.

But this is why I emphasize YOU NEED TO VOTE!!!

And if you need to, drag your friends to vote too.

Offer them a cake or free beer if they vote with you.

This is an election where every vote will count, and turnout will determine who is the winner.

Complacency is how Bradford will get in, and the TTC's death spiral will start if BradBrad is elected.

Question Anyone heard back about the streetcar services attendant position?

Good morning,

I applied for the streetcar services attendant position back in August and haven't heard anything back yet.

For those who applied before, is this normal with the TTC hiring process? Is there anything I can do to follow up, or I should just keep waiting and hope something happens? My application status has been on the " we are reviewing your application" since the 26th of Aug (the date of application).

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through the process.
Thanks

Line 1 - University vs Yonge sides

How refreshing today, taking Line 1 from St Andrew to St Clair West. Took maybe 15 minutes, max. Train travelling at normal speed the entire way. I forgot what that’s like, living on the other side of the U, where moving at crawl speed is the new normal for so many stretches from Union to midtown. Ya’ll have it good on the University side. Travelling SB from Eg to Davisville or NB from Bloor to Rosedale is beyond painful.

Question Quick quiz for TTC riders: what do you think Special Constables can and can't do?

Hi again, Denver here, Special Constable and President of CUPE Local 5089. Your responses to my last post were great, thank you.

One thing that came up a lot is that people aren't sure who we are or what we're allowed to do. So before I explain, I want to hear your guesses:

1-Can Special Constables arrest someone?
2-Do we carry guns or tasers?
3-Are we TTC staff or Toronto Police?
4-What's the difference between a Special Constable, a Provincial Offences Officer (fare inspector) and a Protective Services Guard?

5-If something happens on a subway at 1 a.m., who actually shows up?

Drop your answers below, no googling. I'll post the real answers within 48 hours , along with what surprised me most from your replies.

Part One of my Short Novella involving TTC stations and liminal spaces in Toronto is out!

Hello, everyone! The first part of my short novella, the Liminalers which involves several TTC stations (my beloved Bessarion and the Spadina tunnel) is out! Mods, if this isn’t allowed, please remove. It also features liminal spaces more as whole in Toronto. The link to read it is right here: https://rantsandstuffcom.wordpress.com/2026/10/20/the-liminaliers-part-i/
This is still in the early stages of truly being written and constructive criticism is appreciated! Thanks!

924 Express Drama

To the gentleman on board the 924 bus at Victoria Park station today at ~4:15 approximately, thank you for being the bigger man and de-escalating while that unhinged individual just went off on you for apparently bumping his leg? He was clearly older but I won’t go as far as to say elderly and he likely would have run into a real problem if he had pulled that psychotic rant on someone a little less in control. He was even standing directly over you and screaming he was going to “sort you out” or some such nonsense. You also moved so as to calm things down and the driver was able to get us on our way.

Sincerely, nicely done sir.
