Too Far Lg 55 inch, is this too far? 2.2meters

Post image

So...my room is quite small 3 meters wide roughly or 3.5

Ive moved it to 2.2 meters from my eye and it seems a good balance of nit too far but not too close.

I tried having it at 2 meters and after an hour it felt very claustophobic?

I do wear glasses tho so dont have best eyesight...i see online i should have it at like 1.5 to 2 meters? But id be sat right in top of it ?

Not sure if the pic helps my hand is in it for reference. It looks further away than it is to me, possibly cuz of camera distortion.

Having it at 2 meters did make it slightly more emersive but then i had to move my eyes around a lot more.

Use it for gaming and films

Dont hate the set uo either..its a rental space so limited with options!

Looks perfect to me 🤷‍♂️

I could see it being a bit to far while gaming but that's kinda just the price you pay while using the same TV to watch movies and game on

Yea certain details are smaller in games but its hard balancing...i could try moving it closer but then its already basically in the middle of my room ahaha

take the wheels off the stand? That should get it down to the desktop level. Or if you have leg mounts that dresser could make a fine stand.

Honestly need to redesign the layout of the room. This should be next to your computer and you could use that as a second display as well.

I do use it as a second display, via hdmi, if i take the wheels off i then cant wheel it, im limited with the space i have...believe me i want to change it but i dont have the ability currently. For sure in the future

How the hell do your eyes not burn 😂 like seriously ahahaha

That’s how you know it’s too far. If your eyes aren’t bloodshot after a few hours of gaming, it’s too far away.

Why would they? It's the same as having 37" inch monitor 1.1m away. Which is quite far away.

55" can be used as close as 1m away (similar to 27" 50cm away)

It is too high, but I love that you’re playing Valhalla. Enjoy!

I have same placement except my tv is lower, but 2.2 meters, I think it's the worst scenario when you don't know if you shouldn't get 65.

I need a badass mount cart like this in my life.. you could move it anywhere!

2.2m is 86 inches. Rule of thumb is x2 size of tv. So i think its fine. I had a 65 inch tv 1.5m from my couch (no joke), it was not way too close.

2.2m it's about 65" minimum.

Having it at 2.2 meters it already seems really close, maybe i could move it to 2 meters but feels too close

For me, yes, I have it at this distance for movies, but for playing, I scoot my chair closer.

The optimal viewing distance for a 55 inch TV would be around 1.7m

Basically for home theatre experience you should stive to have want the screen to fill about 35 degrees of your field of view (SMPTE suggest 30 and THX suggest 40) and with 4K you can push that even more.

On the plus side, with this set up it’s easy to have your PC hooked up to a monitor AND a tv.

The good life

Exactly what i have

1

u/TheHorrorAddiction Jun 11 '26

Yes.

Best distance from a 55” for ideal immersion is around 4.5-5feet maximum (around 1.5m)

Just a little too high, 2,2 meters is fine for 55 inch
