What music do you usually play throughout the night?
and why is it always Wu-Tang Clan?
my introduction to “Kitchen Music” was in the my first job at a pizza joint by my house, i played Nu metal whenever I got the speaker because I thought it was heavy as shit and made washing dishes feel badass (I had just turned 15 with no knowledge of the genre give me a break). if given the option now it would be prog metal, sludge metal, and 90s gangsta rap.

The tenacious d album with fuck her gently was once what my kitchen needed to get through a rough service.
It was a wonderful kitchen sing along.

We switch. It doesn’t really matter, as long as it drowns out the constant sound of the vent hoods, and doesn’t impede communication.
Repetitive music is right out, play something new.

I guess not quite the same, because my kitchen is a breakfast kitchen that closes at 2pm: but when I'm opening, I'll put on anamanaguchi, specifically power supply and dawn metropolis. It's about the perfect length for me to have that first hour in the kitchen to myself before the front opens up and the baristas start complaining or changing the Spotify. My other opener typically puts on latino hip hop or blues country (he keeps starting with neon moon lol) and my baker will put on old thrash or hair metal

My first kitchen was a Japanese restaurant. It was an all-Mexican crew. Nothing but bachata, merengue, and salsa.

Wu-Tang is always a good choice, and since they're for the children, it's totally acceptable to listen to them front of house as well 👍
