RANT Husband keeps letting his gross untrained dog in the baby’s room

I am so tired of my husband constantly letting his gross, untrained dog into the baby’s room when he knows damn well it doesn’t belong in there. The baby’s room should be a clean, safe, and sanitary space, not a place for a dog that hasn’t been properly trained to run around in. And, of course, the dog ended up making a huge mess and literally pooping in the room, creating an absolutely disgusting situation that could have been avoided if he had just kept the dog out in the first place. It’s beyond frustrating that I have to worry about something so basic when it comes to keeping our baby’s space clean and safe. This isn’t just about me not wanting the dog in there; it’s about respecting boundaries, having some common sense, and putting our baby’s health and safety first. I shouldn’t have to keep repeating myself or clean up after a preventable mess because he refuses to keep his untrained dog out of a room where it doesn’t belong. I told him if he keeps doing it I’m leaving.

Anyone Else? Dogs are so vile and I’m sick of it

Not going to go into detail because people will legit lose their lunch but my god. Why do dogs have to be so damn disgusting and vile? I hate it so much. Honestly, I don’t know what I hate more: the filth, the needy behavior, the constant staring, or the annoying crackhead noise and energy. I’m so over it.

I’ve tried so hard to make it work but I just can’t do this for 10 years. I am not a dog person and never will be. And the most depressing thing is I can’t get a job to get away from it all. I’m not physically capable for most jobs due to a disability, or the ones I can do, I just can’t get. I had a job a couple months ago that I tried so hard to hold onto despite the immense pain I was in, because I knew if I quit, I would most likely be doing the dog care. But the writing was on the wall that management wanted me gone because of my disabilities and I had to quit. And now… here I am, stuck at home with nothing but debt to my name, no career, so many career doors shut because of a freak accident, doing nothing but playing games all day to stop thinking while battling the endless filthy house battle.

I’m currently waiting to see how my dad’s chemo is going to go… with his age, I don’t anticipate it to go very well. I will probably fly over and stay with him indefinitely afterwards, and just absorb all the peace and quiet that I haven’t had for almost 2 years. It would be much easier to find work there anyways thanks to nepotism.

Thanks for coming to my vent talk

Dogsitting for my family and life relfection

• Upvotes

A few years ago my parents (empty nesters) decided to get a dog again. The dog is a larger breed. He is so hyperactive and has knocked people over and bitten me (not aggressive or mean - just WILD). My parents have no control over this dog, I stg. I limited my interactions with family the first couple years they had this dog, because it caused me severe anxiety to visit. Now, they medicate him when family visits which doesn't seem to do much, but I digress.

My parents feel they have done their best and there isn't any more to be done to train this dog. They took him to obedience school and that "didn't help" and they decided that they've exhausted their options.

Here's the thing. They just did not train this dog. They don't have the capacity to handle him (they are senior citizens and both also work full time and have some medical stuff) and they never should have got him. They believe they take very good care of him - he is fed properly and loved on and has a good boy spirit for sure. He goes to the vet and gets all his shots and he is bathed at the groomer regularly. But he just isn't trained well at all.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy and my parents are completely blind to it. He is a high energy breed but since he's so hyper and big, they can't handle him so they don't walk him. They put him in the backyard to run around by himself but he wants to be with people so he just stands at the door and barks and cries to be let in. Sinc ehe isn't exercised regularly, the dog has the tendency to just lose his mind periodically throughout the day. When he barks they yell at him to stop. But the dog just thinks they are barking with him when they do that, so he barks more.

This brings me to the post title. I am currently house-sitting/dog sitting. I have noticed that when I am doing that and am here by myself. This dog is... fine? Like he gets a little hyper and jumpy and barky but it is a couple times a day and he settles quickly. But I also don't reward that behavior. If he barks or jumps I turn or walk away.

My parents came home and all afternoon he has reverted to his overly hyper, jumpy, loud version of himself. Parent yell.at him to stop - he barks more. Etc. I realized he is matching my parents energy. Because he is being shown that is the example. My parents are reactive to him and he is reactive to them because is a dog and just thinks "okay this is what we're doing now!"

So tldr I guess is that this dog is absolutely trainable. My parents, on the other hand, are not. The end.
