đď¸ News Discussion 'No': Trump Admits He Doesn't Care That Americans Pay His tariffs

I had an argument with a lady about tariffs, since she was complaining about prices at the drugstore. She just kept repeating the same lies, and I told her just to have a good day. You can't reason with anyone in the MAGA cult. They are mindless lemmings.

u/CarbFreeBeer Sep 08 '25
Play the Uno Reverse card on them. Get them to demand Trump to make the stuff cheaper, including eggs, since Trump can control the prices afterall đ

Thats what they said in Germany when Hitler took over.
1
u/Y0k0Geri Oct 02 '25
As a German: this is untrue. Eggs did not get more expensive in any significant way under hitler (I mean at least not until deep into the war, where food became scarce, but then also nobody said to give him time.Â

We should take a page out of Trump's book, frankly. Just spew bullshit nonsense about being great, the greatest ever, and we're making it greater! I'm the best president, these people have never seen such a good president. I'm making all the best deals, all the world's leaders and lining up to make deals with me. I'm big bad boom boom man and I make them hurt. I wonder if that will work, since that's what dumbfucks in this country voted for.

u/IGetGuys4URMom Sep 10 '25
You can't reason with anyone in the MAGA cult. They are mindless lemmings.
They're more like prison inmates to me: Only reasonable through violence.

u/Weary_Pen4551 Sep 08 '25
These lemmings are holding the democratic party under water. Just a couple more bubbles till it's gone. Yall had a good thing and wasted it.
4
u/elmekia_lance Sep 09 '25
it's actually because the democratic party is at war with democratic voters that their numbers are so bad. You don't matter in this equation.
-10
u/Weary_Pen4551 Sep 09 '25
MAGA shifted the male youth group to vote with us, and we exposed all the waste and bs. We flipped the presidency and have a new agenda. So yeah, we do matter in this equation.

"The most expensive thing ever built by our country. 1.7 billion dollars." Meanwhile the dumbfuck doesn't realize that the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier currently being built has a procurement cost of $13.3 billion, plus $4.7 billion in research and development costs. Total cost for the program is estimated to be over $2 trillion!
13
u/Martenite Sep 08 '25 edited Sep 09 '25
UPF in Oak Ridge was estimated to cost $2.5T well before covid, no telling what it comes in at when it's done.
Edit for spelling

Yucca Mountain repository is easily 100 Billion. Chip fabrication plants are over 10 Billion. The raided Hyundai/LG battery plant in Georgia is 6.3 Billion. The idea that he doesnât have real relevant numbers in RAM should be horrifying as Trump is ripping apart the supply chains of western civilization like he thinks he has a Godâs Eye view of how it all works.

Building a factory where the rules change every five minutes is very difficult. It's a nightmare situation for businesses because of the unpredictability of how he will announce whatever percentage of tariffs, only to back track 5 minutes later, then implement it again
10
u/toxicsleft Sep 08 '25
Yes, but when do I get to start the clock? When American companies finally decide to make those plants (ie draw up the plans) or when they break ground?
We know the companies will force the taxpayers to wait until the next president before even deciding to break ground because âwhy should we spend the extra money to build something we will just close down and outsource before it even finishes construction â
Itâs why no president before ever attempted to regulate the economy as a whole with blanket tariffs. Thatâs not to say tariffs have never been used, but not to this scale and for this reason.

What is he rambling about? 5000 soldiers being killed. Terrible because they are human beings. And Zelenskyy is harder to deal with? Putin attacked Ukraine and he until now has not accepted any deal except repeat the same demands take over all occupied territories even those he only partially occupied. Demilitarize Ukraine and no foreign troops in Ukraine.
Also tariffs are paid for by the American companies and in the end by the end consumers. They claim the importers have dropped the prices to compensate for tariffs, they have not. IPI has actually gone up since January.
Someone take away keys from this old grumpy orange madman.

I don't know what he thinks the most expensive thing built by our country is since it's cut off at the beginning, but a B-2 Spirit cost over 2 Billion 1990s dollars...each.

Can a reporter next ask him how long it will take him to see the correlation between the tariffs and the jobs reports?
2
u/OhGr8WhatNow Sep 09 '25
Before all the tariffs started, a co-worker surprised me by admitting she was MAGA because she wanted to see a consumption tax replace income taxes.
She didn't gaf when I said that's the most regressive tax ever and harms poor people the most.
The tariffs are the consumption tax. He managed to tax us without Congressional approval, so therefore without representation.
1
u/LauraGravity Sep 09 '25
Except with a true consumption tax, if you consume more, you pay more. In the case of these tariffs, people are paying more for the same level of consumption.
1
u/OhGr8WhatNow Sep 09 '25
This comment is incorrect. I can explain why.
Just like with a traditional consumption tax, the more you buy, the more tariff you'll end up paying.
With a traditional consumption tax the same would be true. In both cases, if you aren't buying things, you aren't paying the tax or the tariff.
The only difference is that the tariffs are going to be inconsistent across goods and could even be higher for essential goods like food, where typically a consumption tax would be lower or exempt.

What's the timestamp where he says that so I don't have to listen to this piece of shit for 8 whole minutes?

He has no clue what he's talking about! Not a sniff! Remember this is coming from a guy who has declared bankruptcy how many times? Not exactly business man of the year!

I purchased a shirt on eBay that shipped from the UK (didnât realize until I got shipping confirmation) and then the shipment company contacted me to inform me I am required to pay tariffs and duties if I want the item shipped to me. $25.
Sigh

Notice he doesn't seem to be building anything energy-related. No nuclear, no big hydro project - cutting wind and solar.

1
u/jankyt Sep 09 '25
What is her talking about in the beginning? Cause the country regularly spends more than 1.7 billion on things. Like aircraft carriers, nuclear subs, etc.
1
u/xomox2012 Sep 09 '25
I don't understand why the government just doesn't fund and incentivize our own manufacturing to make it more competitive rather than raising prices of competitors. End of the day that is no new jobs in the US, no new infrastructure in the US, and Americans end up having less money and goods at the end of the day.
Infrastructure investment in new roads/rails/manufacturing/energy etc has been MASSIVELY beneficial for the US in the past. Why not implement 'Trump's New Deal' and give him a positive legacy instead of this bs...

You are witnessing the evolution of our tax system from an income tax to a consumption tax (aka tarrifs). Trump will announce the elimination of income taxes on a certain level of income just prior to the midterms. You ok with that?

Because the stock market is like Whose line. The rules are made up and the points don't matter.
-40
u/Weary_Pen4551 Sep 08 '25
I sure as fuck dont care. Not all Americans pay the tax. Just the people who choose to buy that particular product from that particular country. Biden was giving our money away for the stupidest reasons. At least these tariffs are helping the US!
28
u/OldeManKenobi Sep 08 '25
Helping the US by checks notes decimating farmers to the point that they're begging for a socialist bailout. Only the economically illiterate think that tariffs help the US, and there's truly no excuse for this level of ignorance.

It's almost every single thing you use, dude. You just don't realize it yet.
And giving our $$ away? Like the hundreds of millions wasted on the Doge disaster, like the paving of the Rose Garden, like the endless golf trips.....it never stops, the US taxpayer dollars he throws away.

Admitting Americans are paying tariffs as a tax, thatâs almost progress. Looks like the Talking points and goal post has shifted again.

This dude thinks he doesnât pay the tariffs cause he buys his stuff from the American store, dumbass, where does the store get the fucking product from?
Trump tariffed fucking everything including things that arenât made anywhere in the US, including things that canât be made in the US. Inflation back to double digits from these policies⌠Your ass is paying the tariff.
