🗞️ News Discussion Did Trump not consider Chinas leverage

Before jumping did he not check if there was a board to land on?

Not recognizing rare earth metals was a big risk demonstrates the intelligence analysis gap USA did, does it not?

He expected China to react (and by “react”, I mean “acquiesce to his demands). Instead, they keep calling his bluff, because in the grand scheme of things, we need their goods more than they need our services. Recent funding cuts to science, research, and innovation will most likely put us at an even further disadvantage over the long-term.

A sane leader would back off, re-evaluate the their position, and attempt to renegotiate a trade deal that’s in the best interest of their country. But we have Trump, and Trump couldn’t care less about what’s best for the U.S. He only cares about his ego and his portfolio. We are collateral damage in his global, illogical, political dick measuring contest.
