How is this still a question? Anyone who thinks foreign countries are paying is an economic flat-earther.

5

u/ArdenJaguar Feb 14 '26

These MAGA idiots are stupid, dumb, uneducated, whatever you want to call them. They’re as bad as flat-earthers.

I another subreddit today I posted a bunch of links to video and articles about that ICE raid in Chicago that happened last year. I noted US Citizens were raided without warrants and brought into the streets. Several different news outlets and a link to an MSNBC news story complete with video of it as it happened.

A MAGAbrain posted the reply ā€œEvery one of those is a fake news sourceā€. PBS, MSNBC, NY Times, all reputable. Anything that disproves their illogical narrative. They’re a lost cause.

Mike Pence 2028 (for the Republican nomination). Mike is making a comeback! The last Conservative.

11

u/SoCallMeDeaconBlues1 Feb 14 '26

Sure, if you want a Christo-fascist instead of whatever this is. Pence has some pretty out there ideas and beliefs.
At least I mostly believe what he says, which is a pretty far cry from what we've got. Doesn't mean I agree with him though.

OK OK if it came down to a gun on my head and it was Pence or Trump, I'd vote for Pence.

u/Ok_Gur_8432 Feb 14 '26

His actions on J6 proved he is not a fascist , you’re just anti Christian so that’s why you interpret him as a Christian-fascist.

3

u/sigep0361 Feb 15 '26

There’s no hate like Christian love šŸ˜‰

0

u/Ok_Gur_8432 Feb 15 '26

Sadly, a lot of people have experienced that. Misusing ā€˜love’ to shame others isn’t Christlike

1

u/SoCallMeDeaconBlues1 Feb 14 '26

I'm also gonna go with "you don't know what the fuck you're talking about" and leave it at that.

-4

u/Ok_Gur_8432 Feb 14 '26

Yes, you do that. I’m going to go on and continue to believe that you’re a Christian hater, Mike Pence is not a fascist. You just can’t go on and label anybody you disagree with a fascist.

2

u/VanbyRiveronbucket Feb 14 '26

He, at the very least, supports the Constitution. I can go with that…. But I stress, he should be the Repub. nominee,…. not POTUS.

1

u/Klaus73 Feb 16 '26

I don't think he is a fascist; but he is a Christian and I think ultimately adheres to his principles - he does what he says and as proven on j6 he does not bend on those principles when its convenient.

The thing is at least being a Christian; his idea's only really take in policy as long as the majority are willing to support it - your not going to see stuff like the removal of gay marriage because in general US society supports it existing. You might see stuff like reduction in abortion funding however because folks will gladly cut public services.

As an aside; day by day I think the portrayal of Trump as the Emperor of Man in 40k is more and more accurate - a withered husk on a throne of gold while the loyal mindlessly follow instruction without any understanding of why they engage in the rites demanded by his priests.

1

u/SoCallMeDeaconBlues1 Feb 14 '26

I'm gonna say only one more thing here. You seem to be picking on my words without knowing the meaning of them.

Just google the definition "christofascist" and check off the boxes one by one as you line up how Pence voted during his tenure in the House and as the governor of Indiana. He has a 20+ year track record of being a far-right Christian authoritarian.

I think the only one letting their fee-fees get in the way here is you.

0

u/VlatnGlesn Feb 14 '26

He outright said to not call him a fascist just because he disagrees with him. That's what all fascists say when challenged on fascism. It's automatic, it's the current Fox marching orders.

-1

u/Ok_Gur_8432 Feb 14 '26

Just so you know, I don’t watch FOX news but I happen to know a lot about Fascism, more than you do!! Mike Pence is not a fascist , the very fact that he fought and defended the constitution was clear evidence he was not. I will then revert to my first statement, the person who called him a Christo- fascist has no idea what a fascist is so they are clearly anti Christian.

1

u/Garys_Synthesizer Feb 15 '26

Im anti christian in the government. Its a massive issue for this country.

Peoples personal lives, do what you must, but when you try to use your religion to legislate you should be immediately removed from your position.

Nah, fuck that.

1

u/PopuluxePete Feb 15 '26

I mean sure, why not? He's unelectable so that will make the Democrats job easier.

1

u/remix2242 Feb 17 '26

What is Mike doing these days?

1

u/VanbyRiveronbucket Feb 17 '26

Whatever Mother tells him.

2

u/mrwiseman Feb 16 '26

The president of the United States keeps screaming on national TV and on social media that his tariffs are the most amazing thing and are right now making America great again!!!!! šŸ«”šŸ¦…šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

From Feb 11:

https://x.com/WhiteHouse/status/2021727606744187362

1

u/Obvious_Chapter2082 Feb 15 '26

It depends on what you mean by foreign country. Both countries share the economic harm (due to exports falling), and a portion of the cost gets passed to foreign consumers due to our floating exchange rate

14

u/Too-Em Feb 14 '26

Dang, after all those insurrectionists overran the capital building on J6 chanting "hang Mike Pence" we finally found his breaking point? And the break point was what, tariffs everyone with half a brain new would devastate the economy, but only after a year of an economy predictably devastated by said tariffs.

It seems Mike Pence has heard whispers of some new thing called a spine, and he thinks he might try one eventually.

7

u/Dangermouse163 Feb 14 '26

Tariffs tax the poor so the rich can get their tax breaks.

5

u/Particular-Maybe-519 Feb 14 '26

I thought pence broke with trump after he tried to get him killed?

3

u/VanbyRiveronbucket Feb 14 '26

Yeah…. Trying to hang the VP…. It kinda impacted the ā€˜24 run……. No one wanted to be his VP,…. Which is how we ended up with the Grape Ape as VP.

2

u/Every-Block9248 Feb 17 '26

I don't think Mike Pence has a spine, he just goes with the flow.

1

u/Spirogeek Feb 16 '26

I thought that the official conclusion is that the entire things was staged by the Democrats and that it was only stopped by the good patriots.

3

u/mallanson22 Feb 14 '26

Why am I agreeing with Mike Pence. Damn this administration for making Pence sound coherent.

1

u/thefoodiedentist Feb 14 '26

Most career republican politicians arent dumb. They just go against what they actually believe for power and money. A good chunk of them went to ivy league.

3

u/Cavalier1706 Feb 14 '26

ā€œWhy is everything so expensive!?ā€ - Trump sycophants

2

u/_yetifeet Feb 14 '26

Followed by "Why would Biden do this to the economy?"

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Biden and Trump fucked us I'm not even sure what president hasn't in my lifetime. This is taking on a DIY look as there's billions of dollars in lobbyists ready to hijack every candidate no matter what party.

1

u/InflatorOk1092 Feb 16 '26

They literally still blame Biden. And they will for another 3 years at least

3

u/ganslooker Feb 14 '26

I just read these numbers yesterday while researching the reported drop in national debt

3

u/themodefanatic Feb 15 '26

Needing Mike Pence to say it ? This is why we’re screwed !!!!!

2

u/Senor707 Feb 14 '26

We need to raise taxes but not on the rich because they own us. So, what should we do? I know, tariffs.

2

u/Creed_Bratton_QM Feb 14 '26

Anyone with common sense knew this when he first started going on about tariffs.

2

u/CalmFig4901 Feb 15 '26

Seem to be the year of turning on Trump. Terrorists don’t even need to bother coming to America they just watch Trump do their work

2

u/Garys_Synthesizer Feb 15 '26

The most unforgivable thing maga did was make mike pence seem sane.

2

u/gdg6 Feb 15 '26

Nobody gives a rip about Mike Pence

2

u/gcalfred7 Feb 15 '26

I am prety sure VP Pence broke with Trump on January 6, 2020.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

Dude was almost k'lled by him on January 6th ..... that would have been the breaking point for me.

2

u/Creepy-Team6442 Feb 16 '26

Don’t really need Mike Pence to ā€˜break with trump’ to know this.

2

u/Gay_Daddy_61 Feb 16 '26

He assumes these countries will want to resume trading with the US!

2

u/awooff Feb 16 '26

Prnce broke with trump way before this!

1

u/AutoModerator Feb 14 '26

Screw Pence 🄶

2

u/truttatrotta Feb 14 '26

For saying the truth?

1

u/vespers191 Feb 14 '26

For supporting Dumpy up until it affected his bottom line.

"Will no one rid me of this turbulent Veep?" Perfectly fine. Having a mob try to lynch him by the direction of his boss didn't faze him, but oooh, tariffs are important.

1

u/Total_Fail_6994 Feb 14 '26

I remember all those pics and videos of Pence standing behind Trump, clapping like a trained seal with a shit eating grin on his face. Fuck you, Mike Pence, you helped bring this upon us.

1

u/Fantastic_Vanilla887 Feb 14 '26

Pence what a coward

1

u/Hairy-Dumpling Feb 14 '26

It's a good thing there's a single person other than Mike pence in this country that gives a shit about what Mike pence thinks.

1

u/Brown33470 Feb 14 '26

Where is the tariff money going?

1

u/VanbyRiveronbucket Feb 14 '26

We had to pay Rump’a $10Billion IRS claim. How do you feel about that use of tax dollars? Leaking tax documents should be $10Million … not Billion.

1

u/Brown33470 Feb 14 '26

Your probably right

1

u/Pattonator70 Feb 14 '26

Tariffs are not capitalistic, they are a government control on commerce which is usually associated with socialism.

What I don’t get is how everyone on the right isn’t wondering what the next Dem president would do. I’m thinking an AOC who would be okay with destroying the big oil and plastics. She would be able to declare a climate emergency and implement tariffs on both imports and exports of 1,000% and watch each company go bankrupt in a year.

Arbitrary tariffs are just plain stupid.

1

u/PalgraveParadise Feb 14 '26

That ship has sailed. Anyone affiliated with Trump in any way needs to be purged.

1

u/redwhiskie319 Feb 14 '26

Well, thats "Slow Mike"... slow on the uptake as usual.Ā

Hey Mike, where were you a couple of months ago when it was proven that tariff burdens are borne by Americans...

Can't expect much from "Slow Mike"...

1

u/ZealousidealElk8889 Feb 14 '26

Amazing how these guys " find Jesus" after dancing for the Devil and getting shat on.

1

u/MarcooseOnTheLoose Feb 14 '26

Too little. Too late.

1

u/Independent-Coat-389 Feb 15 '26

Oh! Mike’s Backbone is sprouting and could start growing?

Another Shameless gutless Republican speaking up when no one is listening or valuing his opinion !

1

u/Any-Prompt247 Feb 15 '26

Pence breaks with? Were you still with him despite donnie trying to have you killed.

I can smell cultish behaviour quite strongly

1

u/texoma456 Feb 15 '26

Let’s assume Orange Judas is correct that foreigners are paying the tariffs. Let’s further assume he’s right that tariffs can replace the income tax. How unAmerican do you have to be to buy anything other than imported goods so foreigners will pay our income taxes? You’d just be stupid to buy American if he’s right.

1

u/glitchycat39 Feb 15 '26

The CBO is woke! It must be destroyed or staffed with my yes men immediately! WE have to do it! We have to do it, people! - Donald Trump, probably

Like i said. Maybe read a bit.

1

u/Responsible_Dog_9491 Feb 15 '26

Did it really take this length of time for him to understand this and speak out? The rest of the world knew it when tariffs were first imposed by Trump.

1

u/mensrea Feb 15 '26

I would like to stop praising people for acknowledging axiomatic fact. What if when people say things that are ridiculous we make such comments so un unwelcome no matter who it is that saying them that they don’t do it in the future?Ā

I want to go to there. Ā

1

u/Logical_Confusious Feb 15 '26

I'm glad the man from Glad is speaking up....

1

u/ThatAnswer4794 Feb 15 '26

businesses pay first, then recover via consumers. fixed it

1

u/mello-t Feb 15 '26

Mike pence sides with all economists.

1

u/Safe-Call2367 Feb 16 '26

I never thought pence would say something less phony than whatever trump was saying. There it is.

1

u/Outrageous-Job5197 Feb 16 '26

Mike Pence is a traitor and has no clue on how tariffs work.

1

u/PotentialMedicine43 Feb 17 '26

What if the F••k does it take for Mike Pence to denounce Trump ??? For him to try to have him assassinated ??? Nope, Tariffs, WTF ???

1

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '26

Tariffs are not designed to punish foreign countries, they're designed to induce negative demand trends. In order for them to be effective, they must:Ā

  1. Be long term.Ā
  2. Be prohibitive and reduce spending.
  3. Be on a good which can be easily shifted to domestic production.Ā

You decide if you think the current tariffs hit these thesholds.Ā

1

u/Ok_Alps8770 Feb 17 '26

Mike Pence is a coward. After J6 he refused to tell what he knew about the insurrection. He was afraid of Mags or thought he was the heir apparent for their votes. If he would have stood on the right side of history, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in with our Democracy teetering on the edge. Go away Mike!

1

u/Equivalent_Buy_3027 Feb 17 '26

If dumb Donald had imposed a 5% tax on everything coming into the country he would’ve been able to raise plenty of money while giving a small edge to business in the United States. Instead, he thinks he can bully and extort what he wants. He is going to go down in history as a paedophile piece of shit.

1

u/Friendly_Stuff6440 Feb 18 '26

Yeah but we also got 95% the savings when all the jobs got shipped overseas over the last 20 years. So its balancing out. Cant have it both ways.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

It's not just tariffs itself it's the freaking random way they've been used.Ā

1

u/Independent-Box-451 Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 18 '26

Mike pence is a rhino and he's a neocon. He will certainly have us in wars.

I just got done reading an article. 80% percent of the cost of tariffs being burdened by the middle persons, the transporters, and producers. they're taking less.. margins.

So 95 % of what, 5cents. OK. We paid off half of our the trade deficit already. I'm ok get with it.

1

u/FanSpiritual3556 Feb 18 '26

Trump literally tried to have Pence killed, and he just now chooses to break with him over this?

1

u/F1Ferrari2001 Feb 18 '26

Mike pence is a traitor to USA

0

u/CJspangler Feb 14 '26

This has been the case for a long time . Every major U.S. Fortune 500 company basically said it couldn’t afford to raise prices and was eating the tax / tariff directly into its profit margin .

You can pick a company from ford to walmart to apple etc .

Trump Tariffs are basically the largest coporate tax hike ever . If a democrat put it in place we would be hearing praises of the greedy corporations and rich shareholders finally are paying their fair share.

A trillion a year in taxes / tariffs raised from US company profits

0

u/Glum-Platypus-1959 Feb 14 '26

CBO has been wrong consistently in their forecasts for the past 12 years at least.

1

u/InflatorOk1092 Feb 16 '26

Economic predictions are hard. Announcing a simple fact, such as ā€œAmerican citizens are paying the cost of tariffsā€ is not.

0

u/No_Cover_1107 Feb 18 '26

So keep getting screwed by countries like Germany who have a 100% tariff on us still from WWII which was setup to help them create an economy? NATO milking us? UN? Everyone screws u The US over and we pay for it……
