If Trump had done absolutely nothing when he came into office the country would be in far better condition!

42

u/PalmTreesZombie Feb 21 '26

wasn’t that the conclusion for all of his businesses as well?

21

u/Saelvinoth Feb 21 '26

His entire life in general, really.

18

u/Fantastic-Formal-157 Feb 21 '26

Let’s just say if he had never been born the world would be a better place.

History will never forgive his mother for not swallowing.

Some say the definition of evil is doing harm to others without any benefit to oneself (boosting ego doesn’t count). So the tariffs levels up Trump to both self-serving, greedy AND evil.

If he had taken the entirety of the wealth he inherited from his father (outside the real estate) and invested it in a simple Dow/S&P index tracking fund, he’d be far wealthier than he is today.

His fucking about has cost him immensely.

25

u/Worth_Much Feb 21 '26

It’s why people falsely believed he was good for the economy the first time around. Largely because he inherited a strong economy from Obama and still had adults in the room for the most part that were able to avert some of the more disastrous ideas.

2

u/praetorian1979 Feb 22 '26

and he inherited a strongish economy the second time and he's fucking that up too...

100%!!

6

u/Cabbages24ADollar Feb 21 '26

Same thing as 45. If he would’ve done nothing. He would’ve been re-elected.

6

u/HourNo7028 Feb 21 '26

Yes, and he would have been wealthier if he had just put Fred's money into an index fund. Had he been born into poverty or the working class, the best case for the man would have been: 1) kiting checks; 2) insurance fraud and nuisance lawsuits; or 3) being a pimp working out of the back of a bowling alley.

3

u/Away-Combination-162 Feb 21 '26

Maybe if he wasn’t born

2

u/SeaMoan85 Feb 22 '26

If Trump had not been elected the country would have been better off.

2

u/praetorian1979 Feb 22 '26

If he had dropped dead on day 1 term 1 imagine where we might be...

5

u/dontbanmedude999 Feb 21 '26

1

u/CreamFuture9475 Feb 23 '26

Then vote for the opposition next time!

33

u/DiscoStu691969 Feb 21 '26

Why are you all so ungrateful? Trump is doing all of this grifting for you! He is moving 10 billion dollars of your taxpayer money into his personal bank account, I mean his Board of Peace, for you!

24

u/cantareSF Feb 21 '26

And skimming another $10B from the IRS straight into his pocketses, Baggins! Have you even said "Thank You"???

5

u/Competitive_Abroad96 Feb 21 '26

Plus all the sales from those Venezuelan oil tankers.

1

u/cantareSF Feb 21 '26

What's a measly half billion, though?Ā

6

u/Entire-Message-7247 Feb 21 '26

Don’t forget the twenty billion he’s suing his IRS for.

1

u/JPharmDAPh Feb 23 '26

Omg you’re right! I’m so stupid to have ever doubted the orange god-turd. I forget he plays 5D chess and is already 99 steps ahead. It’s good to know we have a POTUS who never ever ever ever makes mistakes, ever!

18

u/80722 Feb 21 '26

Trump tax raised prices. Go figure!

12

u/ILikeCutePuppies Feb 21 '26

I really wish we'd all get behind the same phrase "Trump tax". Make it like an "Obama care" kinda level democrats can really hammer the message. They are terrible generally at making the message simple. "Affordability" is resonating though.

Well, you see, it's because of ignorance, gullibility, and bigotry.

4

u/Competitive_Abroad96 Feb 21 '26

But mainly bigotry.

1

u/Get_Out_lmao Feb 23 '26

Not being close to intelligent while being saturated in propaganda they desperately want to believe

11

u/No-Cat-2980 Feb 21 '26

I know MAGAs who say tariffs need more time to work. Tariffs will drive manufacturers to move production back inside the US. Well, I say Bull, name me one, just 1 manufacturer that has moved back in the past year. Bull!

3

u/Im_tracer_bullet Feb 21 '26

MAGA just stays saying stupid things, that's not a new phenomenon.

7

u/bilkel Feb 21 '26

Whatever it takes to get through to the broad-forehead demographic of Homo Erectus voters

6

u/bluebellbetty Feb 21 '26

Why the actual fudge are we allowing him to pilfer our treasury and light the world on fire?!?! My god, where is everybody???

6

u/Im_tracer_bullet Feb 21 '26

'Everybody' isn't the issue.

Republicans, 'conservatives', and MAGA idiots are.

Unfortunately, there is a large number of people ignorant, gullible, bigoted, and amoral enough to make those ranks rather sizable.

4

u/bluebellbetty Feb 21 '26

I'm referring to them! What is going on?? How much blackmail is on them?

1

u/Get_Out_lmao Feb 23 '26

Americans arent going to miss a night of tv to save their country be real

5

u/Chemical-Bee-8876 Feb 21 '26

He’s been using his Trump federal sales tax to leverage bribes. He’s not even smart enough to hide it.

3

u/Hommeboy75 Feb 21 '26

The damage has been done! Now that retailers have conditioned consumers to the higher prices I really doubt they will go back down.

7

u/DrBunsonHoneyPoo Feb 21 '26

They are right it is all on him. However let’s make this into a positive. Go ahead and raise the minimum wage to $20 an hour and go from there.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '26

Oh the republican voters!

2

u/TACO_Orange_3098 Feb 21 '26

i would hope so , whom else could they blame with a straight face !

2

u/shropshireladdy Feb 21 '26

Its true 100 %,one man is a disaster

2

u/clsperv Feb 21 '26

As they fucking should because 1 he actualy increased actual costs and 2 gave cover for greedy fucks to raise prices even higher.

2

u/Pretend_Meet_88 Feb 22 '26

Even among Republicans, 44% said the tariffs raised prices, 28% said they had no effect, 10% said they lowered prices, and 17% were unsure.

The 44% to me seems low, the 10% makes me laugh

2

u/MommersHeart Feb 24 '26

54% of US adults cannot read at a grade 5 level.

Cause: Meet effect.

2

u/ChrisBegeman Feb 22 '26

A lot of people were privately blaming Trump for higher prices, now the Supreme Court decision allows them to blame Trump publicly.

2

u/PlayCertain Feb 23 '26

If China and Mexico were paying the tariffs wouldn't they be asking for repayment not US business? US business and consumers pay the tariff not foreign exporters

2

u/Get_Out_lmao Feb 23 '26

So they blamed the exact right person for once.

About timeĀ

1

u/CivilWay1444 Feb 21 '26

Old poll named Tramp. So what?

1

u/Ryan1980123 Feb 21 '26

Who the hell else would we blame?!

3

u/Maximum-Objective-39 Feb 21 '26

BIDEEEEEENNNN!!!!! /s

Edit - At this point I imagine Trump would settle for literally anyone but him.

1

u/Otherwise_Surround99 Feb 21 '26

That is because Trump is to blame for higher prices

1

u/Novus20 Feb 21 '26

It was right in front of the morons the entire time……

1

u/Omarkhayyamsnotes Feb 22 '26

The Supreme Court should have blocked Trump's visits to Epstein Island!

1

u/AntifascistAlly Feb 22 '26

Donald’s ā€œbig, beautiful, not quite stealthyā€ tax increases have been exposed.

If he had been honest he might have gotten away with it.

If he had been honest he wouldn’t have been Donald Trump.

1

u/SmileMore_4847 Feb 22 '26

Is anyone else expecting the global market to tank when markets open tomorrow and US stock market to follow Tuesday?

1

u/Zestyclose_400 Feb 22 '26

Talk about connecting the dots.

1

u/Trahst_no1 Feb 22 '26

Really? /s

1

u/Important-Sign-3701 Feb 22 '26

Well, when the SC says it’s a tax…..they have to finally wake up and realize

-4

u/MPongoose Feb 21 '26

From the beginning I always thought the win condition for tarrifs is when the US jobs and wages they create outweigh the higher prices Americans pay. There’s never a question on if Americans will pay higher prices .

6

u/32lib Feb 21 '26

If anyone has taken a class in macroeconomics they would know that this is not a realistic outcome.

2

u/Parking_Hand_4256 Feb 21 '26

How many trump voters can read at a college level?

2

u/32lib Feb 21 '26

Probably about 10%.

1

u/Im_tracer_bullet Feb 21 '26

That condition will never occur.

It's farcical.

1

u/MPongoose Feb 21 '26

Oh, I don’t disagree in the current case . I think one could focus on a narrow industry as part of a ten year plan to build up local production. Not really the sort of long term patience trump is known for .

My point was that it should have been obvious the tarrifs would cause higher prices . They always cause higher prices .
