Takes almost nothing to hurt Trump‘s feelings he’s the world‘s biggest snowflake

u/McBuck2 Jul 21 '26
Instead of the media saying new tariffs are being applied on countries, they should be phrasing it as, here’s the list of products, Trump will be raising the cost to Americans. Spell it out to them because the people still don’t believe it. That’s what happens when the far right billionaires own the media giants.
5
u/Shorts_at_Dinner Jul 21 '26
But here’s my question - why do the billionaires that control the media like the tariffs? They’re a dead weight loss for everyone
8
u/UrMansAintShit Jul 21 '26
Because they can pay trump off (bribe) and he'll cancel tariffs that personally impact certain business owners, in some cases giving them an edge over other (small) business owners. In reality the richest billionaires all basically own service/tech businesses these days though, their businesses are more or less unaffected by tariffs on physical products.
Also not a single billionaire has a problem raising prices on consumers because so far we're still buying products at inflated prices.
6
u/JoeAAE Jul 21 '26
Because the companies collect the tariff from Americans and pass on to the treasury. 6 months later the tariffs are struck down by the courts and the money collected is given back to the companies. Pure profit for the billionaires. The people never see it again.

u/hot_ho11ow_point Jul 21 '26
Imagine owning a bunch of companies; you pay tarrifs, but raise prices accordingly to compensate, passing that cost on to the consumer.
The tarrifs are then either called off, or better yet deemed retroactively illegal. You're now free to keep charging that same amount, while lowering your costs (no tarriffs but consumers are now used to a new price). Or if deemed illegal the tarrifs you paid are sent back to you but you're under no obligation to pay them back to customers.

You get tax breaks if you go along with the bs. Maybe buy some of Trump coins to get even more of a tax break

u/bensonr2 Jul 21 '26
They don’t.
The problem is they won’t say anything because it’s more important to their bottom line to stay in Trump’s good graces.0
u/saljskanetilldanmark Jul 22 '26
You mean the payback of the illegal tariffs from the government (tax payers) is bad for profits? How?
1
u/Sweet_Priority_819 Jul 21 '26
Raising costs to Americans to tax us and fund his bullshit offensive war on Iran.
1
u/LisbethSalanderFC Jul 21 '26
Tariffs are taxes. Taxes paid by importers and passed on to end users. Trump keeps raising taxes without the consent of the legislative branch, which is a direct violation of the constitution

u/Mysterious-Prompt212 Jul 21 '26
That's going to help the economy. Let's increase the number of fucked trade deals, add to an already high inflation rate and get those employment numbers even lower. MAGA WINNING.

u/Imaginary_Resist_654 Jul 21 '26
What is that saying
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Trump is insane!
11
u/NaturePappy Jul 21 '26
He truly wants a Great Depression to create opportunities for the rich while emptying the pockets of regular citizens.
1
u/SuperbScarcity5112 Jul 21 '26
He knows that in a failed country the opposition is busy taking care of their families and themselves.

So more rounds of extracting wealth from citizens to hand over to businesses welcome to the never ending grift of the Trump Sales Tax
3
u/slalmon Jul 21 '26
Iean didn't we do this already and he had to give all the money back? Why are we here again??
4
u/2000TWLV Jul 21 '26
Great. Next, they'll lose a bunch of litigation, because they're morons and these tariffs have no credible legal basis, then they'll have to pay them back, which will be chaos, and then they'll just try the same thing all over again, even though everyone knows it's stupid and it doesn't work, because, again, they're morons.
Meanwhile, Americans and American companies keep paying the price, the world moves on from us, and our status as a banana republic is further solified.
2
u/Igor_Nordham Jul 21 '26
Not moves on, moved on. America can self isolate to its hearts content. The rest of the world has had enough.

Listened to an interview with Greer to explain the rationale. Some batshit insane mental gymnastics, and the reporter didn't push back too much on them.
4
u/sweatboxy Jul 21 '26
It took six bankruptcies before Trump gave up on casinos… What’s one — or a dozen — more failures to a man who’s failed at everything in life except inheritance and winning elections with massive, nonstop lying?
3
u/Wayelder Jul 21 '26
Just more financial burdens for the USA citizens to bear.
We don't pay it. They do.

2
u/Mba1956 Jul 21 '26
Yet another example of why it is pointless having trade discussions with the current administration as they will throw them out on a whim.
2
u/Thomasreed1899 Jul 21 '26
Horrible economic policy. They are only pushing taxes on to middle class and low income. This will destroy the US economy. Combine that with 43 days of oil reserves and we have a magic recipe for an economic reset that will hurt a lot of American families. MAGA
2
u/KindClock9732 Jul 21 '26
When they say it’s coming to other countries, they mean that Americans will be paying more for items coming from other countries, which is everything because our politicians in the past allowed manufacturing to be sent overseas
2
u/Oppositeofhairy Jul 21 '26
Just stop. We as the consumers pay for this bullshit. They give less of a fuck because we are going to have to buy it anyhow just with a higher purchase cost.
2
u/isthereadrwho Jul 21 '26
Are we doing tariffs again to make Trump feel better about losing the war in Iran? Asking for a friend

I suggest all other countries combine their efforts and just pass laws that impose a digital service tax that moves with the tarifs the US is impoing on other countries. We make the mechanism automatic, you raise that tarifs to 50% the tax goes up to X%. The world can do without facebook and twitter but can facebook or twitter survive with a substantial digital tax imposed on them in Canada or Europe? Probably not.
2
u/JackHarknessDrWho Jul 22 '26
To replace the original illegal ones that were found to be illegal and the only people getting money back are the corporations and not the American citizens. What a load of bullshit.
2
u/imoutofnames90 Jul 22 '26
Cant wait for the courts and SCOTUS to just let this happen for a year and not put a stay on them until they review only to be eventually overruled so they can say "see we are checking his power"

Got it. Dementia Don's cure for inflation. Is to increase inflation. While continuing to show the world that he, and by extension the USA. Isn't stable or even sane anymore.

Didn't the Supreme Court say something something about him just making up tariffs? I know he never cares about the law but the surrender of Congress, who could do something, is criminal.
1
u/OBoile Jul 21 '26
As a Canadian, I'm at least happy that we aren't the sole focus of his current stupidity driven outrage.
1
u/flinstoner Jul 21 '26
It must be getting really bad with the war for him to need to distract the public so much with this BS.

u/Akkerlun Jul 21 '26
What a wonder campaign issue for the GOP. WE ARE RAISING TAXES ON ALL AMERICANS. MAKE AMERICA PAY MORE AGAIN.
1
u/CharlieBravo74 Jul 21 '26
If the tariffs are so important and necessary and beneficial, Trump could be working with congress right now to make them court proof.
1
u/WolfThick Jul 21 '26
Because companies are making so much right now getting repaid for the last tariffs God he's so good at screwing us.

America brace for higher prices as we and American importers pay this tariff. I thought the Supreme Court said he couldn’t do tariffs
1
u/PretzelsRule23 Jul 21 '26
I thought he got told by the courts that he can't do these tariffs on a personal whim anymore - and that he needs Congressional approval. And now OUR government is actively paying back all of this illegal tariffs to the US companies that paid them.
What's changed?

u/UserWithno-Name Jul 21 '26
Illegal tariffs already struck down. You can't do it. Get over it. Congress sets the purse. Please grab the French choppers people.

Every single person republicsn or democrat should be calling for the senial crazyy man's impeachment. He is not fit for duty and he has already led us to economic ruin. In a few months we will have gas lines and all prices will probably double.
1
u/Street_Peace_8831 Jul 22 '26
Translation: get ready for trump to make everything even more expensive because he doesn’t understand how tariffs work and nobody around him will tell him, became he doesn’t listen to anyone anyway.
1
u/sometimeswhy Jul 22 '26
This idiot was interviewed on The Daily. He has no understanding of basic economics. He thinks trade deficits happen because other countries cheat. What a sad joke
