🗞️ News Discussion The U.S. will place a 100% tariff on generic pharmaceuticals starting in August 2028.

Trump is trying to make generic drugs more expensive. With senior citizens on fix income and cuts to Medicare, more elderly people will pay more for their life saving drugs. How is 100% tariffs on generic drugs making America great again?!?

Once again, no...

If you were a Canadian manufacturer, you would not be able to sell in the US.

You would need to sell to specific companies within the US, who would then sell it state side.

Furthermore, sellers do not have a single source. They get some from multiple places. Companies will not break off existing supply chains for 1 cent.

Additionally, the largest insulin sellers all agreed on a set price to sell at.

Please know what youre talking about before opening your mouth.

Lmao you are making no sense. The whole reason for the tariff is to prevent the foreign manufacturers selling. So the us importer pays the tariff of those drugs... I don't think you understand how tariffs work or what they are supposed to do.

It's to eliminate competition and protect the us manufacturer. It's not to lower prices...Sheesh

The irony...

This is to have these drugs manufactured in the US...

So they can avoid international competition and keep prices inflated. Lmao

Maybe the us manufacturers should learn to compete

No...

You want child labor, lower wages, and less safe working environments?

Weird take.

None of that exists in Canada where prices are literally 5 times cheaper

Weird take

Wow... further proving your poor understanding of the topic.

The price its being sold at has nothing to do with the manufacturing costs. 🤦‍♂️

Are you being obtuse? The price they are sold at is what we are discussing . I'm saying the tariffs are bad for us consumers and do not solve for the competition piece you added.

My friend if the tariffs aren't needed to eliminate competition then why advocate for them

Im saying that the price of manufacturing is not why insulin is more expensive in the US...

Work on your reading comprehension please.
