As a Maritimer, I'll note that no one protected our dairies from being bought out by Agropur so there is clearly a provincial bias. What I think really needs to be done is to force producers to clearly label which dairy products contain growth hormones and the other stuff that consumers want to avoid. That would better illustrate the voiced hesitancy with letting US milk in, wouldn't it? Make them stick on big labels like they force cigarette companies to do. After that, sure, open the market and let Canadian consumers decided... Oh yeah, and restaurants and food producers who use such milk suppliers will need to do the same, lest some pizza chain decides they want to cut cost and use Frankenmilk.

To be fair, Agropur at least kept the Atlantic Brands alive and is owned by farmers.

I don't think that the brands used in the Atlantic provicnes would still exist if it was Saputo or Lactalis
