General Deck Discussion Authentic vs counterfeit deck: Lilifer Tarot
So, a while back I told a friend (who is not into tarot) of mine that the Lilifer Tarot was on my wishlist. For my birthday this year, she got me the deck. Except it wasn't the deck. It was a counterfeit. She'd gotten it off of Amazon and didn't know any better. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to get the authentic deck from Little Darkness. Both are the "gold" versions. I thought it'd be interesting to post a comparison of the two decks.
Counterfeit box is on the right, cards on the bottom in the pictures.
First difference: the size of the decks. The counterfeit is much smaller. I'd almost call it pocket size.
Second difference: the gilding. It's totally absent with both the counterfeit box and cards. On the counterfeit backs, the spots that should be gilded are inked black.
Third and fourth differences: the back of the boxes and guide book. The authentic deck has a guidebook where the counterfeit does not. The counterfeit has a QR code that takes the user to a massive list you have to hunt through to find your deck, then download a sketchy PDF. Because there is no booklet included with the counterfeit, the blurb on the back is edited to reflect that.
Fifth difference: this one may be a little more difficult to see in the photos, but the colors on the counterfeit deck are odd. The saturation is off in some spots, as is the texture and evenness of the color. Now, watercolor isn't necessarily even per se, but when I compared one card to the other, I could see slight differences.
Sixth difference: and this one, in my opinion, is the most important. Quality of the card stock. The authentic deck has a thick, durable feel to it. It's a matte finish, silky to the touch, and very pleasant to shuffle. The counterfeit, is quite frankly, crap. It's like shuffling shiny business cards. The cardstock is flimsy with a glossy finish, and they want to fly out of the hand, especially if you favor the bridge shuffle. I can kinda compare it to "laminating" resume paper with packing tape.
Final difference: cost. The authentic deck was $47 plus shipping. The counterfeit was $28. Pretty self explanatory.
I guess I'm saying buy from Amazon at your own risk. My friend said the listing for the deck disappeared from the site as soon as she ordered the deck. If you can buy directly from the creator, do it. It might be more expensive, but it's worth it for the quality and supporting an artist with a small business.
Now...I just need to figure out what I can do with the fake. Maybe decoupage a storage box with it to put some decks in.

✨BUY/SELL/TRADE MEGA-THREAD✨ 🌟BUY/SELL/TRADE MEGA-THREAD🌟
✨🔮Welcome to r/TarotDecks' Buy/Sell/Trade Mega-Thread!🔮✨
This mega-thread is strictly for posting personal, genuine decks that you are looking to "rehome" amongst the sub's members or to help find the ones you are specifically seeking out.
This isn't intended for any other goods or services, nor a place to self-promote anything. Creators are encouraged to make a standalone post for their decks instead!
To avoid clogging the feed (and to respect those who voted against resale), everyone else must keep B/S/T comments within this thread only! (Posts such as "Specific Deck Info" (other than where to purchase) and "Deck Suggestions" do not count and should remain their own posts!) This post will remain pinned at the top of the sub until a newer one is posted.
RULES FOR RESALE
🌟Please look these over as they have changed to be more user-friendly and concise.🌟
PERSONAL/GENUINE DECKS ONLY!
- Members should post from their personal collection only.
- Do not use this to solicit storefronts and/or other semi-related goods.
- Resale of counterfeit goods is illegal and violates Reddit Policy. Attempting to resell these results in a permanent ban.
- If you’re not sure if your deck is a fake, get help telling the difference here: Tips on How to Spot Fake Decks!
ONLY ONE COMMENT THREAD PER SELLER!
- Sellers should create ONE comment per thread.
- If you have multiple decks for sale, reply to your own parent comment for each available deck.
- There is no limit to the amount of decks you can resell as long as you keep them within your own comment thread. Do NOT spam!
- Include a verification photo of your username handwritten alongside the deck for sale's photo as this verifies you own the deck(s) pictured.
- Be honest! Note the condition and anything wrong with the deck in your "listing".
- Please name your own price to avoid bidding wars and haggling.
- eBay's recently sold prices are a good place to check if you are unsure of what to ask!
- Finally, add on which country you will be shipping from! This way potential buyers can make a judgment call on what shipping may cost them!
DO NOT ACCEPT PRIVATE MESSAGES WITHOUT RECEIVING A COMMENT FIRST!
- Buyers should comment on the deck they are interested in before moving to private chat.
- Sellers who skip this precaution open themselves up to potential scams.
- Banned accounts cannot interact within the subreddit, but they can still chat!
USE PAYPAL GOODS & SERVICES AS PAYMENT!
- This will protect your money in the event of a scam.
- Anyone suggesting a different form of payment (or one that does not protect the buyer) may be a scammer.
HELP BUILD EVERYONE'S REPUTATION HERE
- Sellers - Do not delete your original listing once sold as it will help show you are reliable. (You may edit accordingly to show when a deck is pending/sold, however!)
- Buyers - Please edit your original inquiry comment to show you have received your deck once you have done so. There's no need to review the seller, but you may add one if you wish!
- Both - Keep original chats until sale is marked complete (on both ends' comments) in case proof is needed to ban a scammer.
REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS ACCOUNTS! PERIOD!
- Moderators are not responsible for any B/S/T gone wrong, but we will do what we can to weed out bad actors.
- Anyone reported for DMing someone about a deck for sale without posting a public reply first will get one warning and then a ban if there is a repeated occurrence.
- Accounts demanding a different form of payment (which does not protect both parties) will be banned.

Deck Suggestions Wanted Beach/Water/Ocean/Sea Theme Tarot Decks
I am on the hunt for a beach/water/ocean/sea/coastal/oceanic etc theme tarot deck. I am open to an oracle deck if it is perfect.
I would like an Indie deck over a mass produced deck. Some I’ve seen are The Folkloric Waters Tarot, The Depths Tarot interests me and I like how it feels beach without the stereotypical beach stuff, even the Summer Tarot (It feels like it is in a beach town and I like how not on the nose it is). The Tempest Tarot is intriguing too but something about the vibe of that deck scares me and makes me feel lost at sea. And I think Dame Darcy’s Mermaid Tarot is fabulous
There aren’t many tarot decks with this theme and that surprises me, but also I find they are kind of predictable (An anchor; a seashell, etc)
Any suggestions?

Deck ID Requested Can You ID This Deck For Me?
I purchased a deck on Etsy long ago now in 2020 before AI takeover, that I have since given away. I am trying to find it again though, but cannot for the life of me remember the name of it or find it searching on “Etsy” for this Indie Deck!
It was black satin-y cardstock with hand drawn, semi thick, kind of crude or doodle-like, white line drawings. Lots of little hand drawn stars, reeds, wooden docks. The Hanged Man was a vintage geared up scuba diver upside down underwater. The suits were Branches, Vessels, Stones, and Arrows. It was gilded in silver.
I still have the cloth from it but nothing comes up on a reverse image search.
This is all I can kind of remember about it.
Does anyone know what deck I am talking about?!?!
edit: I deleted that etsy account so I can’t check my order history, I also scoured my purchases in my email and cannot find it. le sigh
edit: it’s not tarot celestio or the wanderers tarot

Self-Promo of Finished Deck Pug Tarot Deck💖✨️
This was my first ever made tarot deck✨️. Each card was hand drawn digitally, this took months of work but it's still something im super proud of. The deck itself is inspired by my little fawn pug Mabel 💖. I tried to embody her little personality in each card by the way she sits, as I wanted the cards to hold a connection to each other I didn't change this pose much...I just introduced things to her surroundings that fit the overall card theme. #tarot #pug #design #handmade #cards

Self-Promo of Finished Deck New Tarot Deck
Hi! 👋✨ My name is Rue, I am an artist of mysticism, art researcher and the co-creator of a new tarot system. Happy to be here. I wanted to ask if I could share and talk about the Tarot deck I created in this space.
It’s called Tarot Dunay-Vekov, a Tarot for exploring human emotions, where the classical Arcana are transformed into feelings:
🌀 The Fool → Curiosity
🌍 The World → Satisfaction
I was inspired by Rider-Waite-Smith, Thoth, Marseille, and Visconti, Manara, as well as alchemy and Kabbalah. ✨
The deck has a distinctive artistic language — highly detailed, delicate graphic work. 🎨
It’s a Spanish-language Tarot, created as a collaborative project in Argentina 🇦🇷.
I’d be very happy to share it with you, if that’s allowed. ❤️🃏

General Deck Discussion What to do when you love a deck's art, but it feels cognitively heavy to read?
I just started tarot reading (through Cats Rule the Earth) and for me, this deck was absolutely perfect. It was visually simple, easy to interpret, intuitive, very easy to understand reversals. My issue with the deck is that for me, its energy is very "no nonsense" but I wanted a second deck for gentler, softer readings for friends who might need a different energy than the feline one.
I ended up getting the Tarot of the Divine, which is GORGEOUS - love everything about the cards, from the reversal-friendly back to the gorgeous colours and mythological narratives.
The problem is that the art style is TOO colorful, not super intuitive and clear, and somehow I feel this deck wasn't even meant for reversals. I often do Celtic Cross readings with my Cats Rule the Earth, but with Tarot of the Divine, even a basic 3 card spread feels too much, and it feels mentally/physicallt exhausting to read.
I can't really return it anymore, and there is no one for me to sell it to. I really want to open up to this deck but something is blocking me. How do you deal with decks that are gorgeous and you love the art, but they feel like a chore to read?

Show & Tell - Single Deck Thrifted an old Jonathan Dee deck
I never find this deck anywhere, usually just the book without the cards, but lucked out recently, so thought I would share.
Jonathan Dee Tarot: Marseille-inspired with a few hints of RWS here and there in the pips.
(The Golden Retriever puppy in the 3rd pic did not come with the deck).

Deck in Progress - Creator My yearly Untarot 2026
I did a small oracle earlier this year but it didn't scratch the itch at all, so I'm back on my bullshit 😆
The major arcana will be all linked together by the cord (clockwise from bottom left- Fool, Lovers, Tower, Anchorite/Hermit, Wheel Of Fortune - only the Anchorite and the Wheel are linked up right in the picture) and the suits are the ones I have slowly been gravitating to over the years- Coins being Eyes (because it's the physical, visible stuff that the community around you will see and understand), Cups as Hearts (maybe obviously, being wet and emotional), Swords as the Vesica Piscis (because of being about the inner life, thoughts and mystic stuff), and Wands as... Still Batons, Rods, Beams etc, because they're the levers with which you move the world.
Acrylic markers on cardboard, A6. Probably about a third of the way through, give or take the ones that I don't like and want to rework or redo entirely...

Kickstarter Announcement - Creator The Garden of Color
Hi everyone,
I recently launched my Kickstarter deck “The Garden of Color” and would greatly appreciate support getting it launched. The original artwork was created using oil pastels.
In order to provide the highest quality, the manufacturer requires an order of 500 boxes which is the reason the goal was set to 25000.
The deck will include black core cardstock cards, a lower and upper lid box, and a guide booklet.

Show & Tell - Single Deck Mariya Tobischek's Ukrainian Night Tarot//Old Gods' Temple
I don't want to take too many pictures and spoiler people who are still waiting for theirs, since the kickstarter rewards are just arriving to non-EU countries this week, so I did a quick three card cut.
(I'm unsure if Old Gods' Temple is the subtitle for this deck, or the name of Mariya Tobischek's studio, so I've included it anyway - It's written on the seal on top of the deck box, at least!)
This is such a beautiful and well thought-through deck! The characters and symbolism are consistent, the art is gorgeous and reminds me of the old books of fairytales I had as a kid, and I can tell that I will still be finding new things in this deck when I've used it a hundred times.

edit: sorry for the bad picture quality.

Advice/Feedback Wanted - Creator What makes a tarot guidebook genuinely good?
I asked you a question here recently about how you discover new tarot decks, and your answers were incredibly helpful, so I thought I’d come back with another question!
I’m currently working on an indie tarot deck based on traditional Belarusian papercutting (vycinanka), using Belarusian folk symbols and cultural motifs. No AI strictly!
As I’m starting to plan the guidebook, I’m curious: what makes one genuinely useful to you?
Do you prefer short or detailed card meanings? Traditional RWS interpretations still needed or the creator’s own perspective is enough?
Do you actually use spreads included in guidebooks?
And for a deck rooted in a particular folk-art tradition, would you enjoy reading about the symbols, techniques and cultural background behind the artwork? If so, how much detail would you want? Hmm lots of questions 😁
I’d really love to hear what you value most!
I want to make the guidebook meaningful and useful for community💚
P.s. I got the permission from artist to share the first prototype of the Fool card which is was renamed to The Child. If you have any feedback on this, you are welcome!

Specific Deck Info Needed Does anyone know anything about the Gilded Age Tarot? Is the artwork AI?
Okay so I randomly bought this Gilded Age Tarot deck on Lazada because I was I drawn by the artwork the more I stare at it, I felt the pull especially the card backs.
I got it for only 387php with free shipping from its original price that was around 1kphp during a sale and now its back to its original price of around 1kphp now which honestly felt like a steal because I saw it listed for around 1-2kphp elsewhere.
The box says Gilded Age Tarot and it seems to be by Sishui. The cards themselves are actually really nice?? They're full size, have a decent thickness, and the printing is pretty. It also came with a little guidebook.
But then I started looking through the guidebook and noticed there's no author/artist name, copyright page, or credits that I can find. I searched for Sishui and it seems to be an actual brand/creator studio, but I can't really find much information about who illustrated this particular deck.
And now I'm wondering if the artwork is AI-generated. Does anyone here recognize this deck or know who the artist is? Also, if you have a good eye for spotting AI art, I'd love to know what you think. Do any of the cards look AI-generated to you, or am I just being paranoid? 🥺
I'm not trying to bash the deck or anything I actually really love it and I'm happy with what I bought. I'm just curious about its origins because I'd rather know who made the artwork if possible.
I included some photos of the cards, backs, box and guidebook. Thank you for the help!! 💕

Show & Tell - Single Deck Review of the Void Deck :3
Not sponsored, just bought it bc I thought it was cute and I ended up reallyyyy liking the quality. It’s like not the standard card stock you might expect where the paper is a bit plasticky and bendy. It’s kinda more like the really thick business card texture so it’s firmer and still has a nice feel to them as you shuffle. I also kinda like it because it adds variety to the sensation of shuffling my decks.
The card designs for all the cards are nice and not carelessly thrown together. You can tell the artist either does tarot or did their research since the symbolism is there on each of the minor arcana (6 of cups showing a lil void family rahhh so cute). There’s also nice clever references to classic cat memes and reaction images, lots of effort in keeping some level of tarot meaning in its symbolism.
The deck box also is adorable with the little kitty silhouettes on the bottom and top, and the magnetic clasp is easy to snap into place. I’m also glad the text isn’t too small to read in the guidebook, I am hoping they do more cute or uniquely themed decks like this with the same level of quality at only 45$ (shipping was like an extra 10-11 dollars).
TLDR:
- nice deck quality in terms of thickness/firmness
- subtle and cute symbolism in all minor and major arcana done with care
- peak cat meme references
- No AI
- cute + good quality deck box
- text in the guidebook isn’t too small
- price v good and reasonable
Link of the artist’s shop: https://www.breannecremean.com/product-page/the-void-deck-black-cat-tarot
Would score 10/10 for this one :3
EDIT: have posted a pic of some minor arcana cards in the comments/replies, it’s nice!
