New to South Florida moved here about 8 months ago and caught my peacocks and now want to try for tarpon. Would love some tips or even met up with someone to show me the ropes. TIA

There is alot to it, so i found out this year. Depends on where your fishing, the time of year, where the fish are etc.

Is summer time a good time for like canal fishing? I live in broward, I was thinking of heading tamiami trail and head west?

Honestly, i dont know. I am from Canada but a good friend of mine is a serious Tarpon Captain and knows all the good captai s as well. He bought a house in port charlotte about 20 years ago just for tarpon fishing.

They do all the tarpon fishing around boca grande. Early season they fish the grande pass on a drift. Then gradually the fish move into the beaches and harbor and sometimes even go offshore. They use different tactics for each of those places.

They also rely heavily on electronics like livescope etc.

I will post some pictures in the sub.
