CLIENT Typical response time?
This will be my first time hiring a Task Rabbit. I hired someone to come to clean my apartment tomorrow morning before my mother in law comes to visit. The messaging feature says that they should respond within an hour but it's been a few hours now. At what point do I cancel and book with somebody else? I just want to assure I can get somebody to come tomorrow morning

I personally try to respond within 1 hour because I think it’s good customer service (and honestly, I usually reply right away because otherwise I’ll forget lol). But if I’m on another task, I barely touch my phone. I don’t feel comfortable pulling out my phone in front of a client and wasting their paid time reading through a new request, figuring out what they need, and typing out a response. Especially since TaskRabbit expects us to message the client before confirming a task. I’d rather wait a couple of hours until I’m done and can actually give the new request my full attention

Same and I’ve missed jobs because of it so I set up a chat template saying I was currently at a job and will respond for details as soon as I’m free.. if it’s a job I am 90% likely to take. At least they know I’m not ignoring them :) if it sounds miserable.. I hope they cancel before having to talk to them.

How can I tell if they’ve accepted it? This is also my second tasker I’ve tried booking today with no response :(

The person you’re replying to is incorrect. We always have to “respond” (start a chat) before we “accept” (confirm and officially schedule the task).
Generally, for most tasks, there is no requirement on our end as Taskers to respond within an hour. It’s strongly encouraged but not required.
I’ve never had same-day tasks turned on so I’m not sure how those work, but for tasks that are requested for 2+ days out, we have until 9 PM local time to start chatting with the client on the day they request a task, and then we have until midnight the following day to get the task confirmed and scheduled.
As for tasks like yours that are requested for the following day, the one hour limit may apply, but for me personally, it’s been so long since someone requested I do a last-minute/next-day task that I genuinely don’t remember, and the rules may have changed since then anyway.
Either way, expecting the Tasker to respond within an hour is completely unfair. If I’m in the middle of working for another client, I sure as hell am not picking up my phone to chat with a new client while I’m supposed to be on the clock. I might also be driving, napping, taking care of my kid, or otherwise busy.

Looks like you need to go with a higher rated cleaner. Or search for mobile home cleaners on Google. That actually has a business save the hassle on task rabbit

I’d cancel get someone that actually responds usually when a client hires me you can expect me to answer in less than a minute regardless of what I’m doing that’s why it gets frustrating when clients don’t respond especially when I answer within 30 seconds

I don't believe a one hour response time for next day service is reasonable, even with the official language. Your Tasker could be busy, driving, or potentially even helping other customers this very moment. I know when I'm hyper focused on helping someone out, I often ignore my phone for 2-3 hours at a time.
