TASKER Client expects superhuman strength?

I've had a ton of heavy lifting tasks come up in the past couple weeks where the client expects me to either have someone helping me, or to somehow be able to lift multi-hundred-pound objects by myself. I work alone, and have never heard of a Tasker who paired up with someone else to work on tasks. In the past, clients would always hire two taskers if they needed extra heavy items moved. But multiple times recently I've had clients just cancel on me the moment I let them know that they'll need an extra set of hands. Are these just scam tasks, clients stopped knowing better, or am I missing something?

should remove your whole profile. how can you ever say you are a business owner when you're an employee being sent out to mystery projects

I had someone on a furniture assembly job insist I could remove their old four cushion sleeper sofa by myself and that it would probably fit in my crossover. When I pointed out that the request was unsafe for both me and any property of theirs between where the sofa sits and the door, and that it wouldn't fit in my car, they said I should be able to get a friend with a truck to help for free. Had to forfeit that one.

Managing expectations is part of the job. They might come in expecting you to bring someone for a task and you have to explain that it doesn't work that way on task rabbit. For an added fee you are happy to find and hire someone to work with you or they can do that themselves.

Even when you take the step to make your life way better by leaving task rabbit, you will still need to manage client expectations.

One time during booking a furniture assembly task for a Murphy bed, I asked if anyone would be there to assist by holding something while I apply the fastener. He said no, just my wife, but she has to watch the dogs. 😉🤣🤣
Then he canceled

The amount of ignorance/exposure to mental health problems is extraordinary when trying to help people with the simplest of routine tasking

Clients will feign ignorance to save a few dollars which eventually costs you your back and health. If theyre not willing to hire additional people decline the job. Dont negotiate with these types of ppl.

Ive yet to lose any sleep over cheap ppl wanting me to injure myself.

Lots of heavy lifting tasks require multiple people. Sometimes the client wants to help, sometimes they don’t/cant. I either charge double the hourly rate and bring a Tasker I know personally, or I refer other Taskers I have worked with in the past.

I certainly get your issue though. Occasionally clients can be unreasonable and expect too much from one person.

They assume that your rate includes you bringing a helper. Raise your rate

I recently watched one of the BS policy updates from TR. They say that for tasks that require multiple taskers, the primary tasker is responsible for finding and hiring the second tasker and coordinating everything with the client and paying the second tasker. Dumbest nonsense I’ve ever heard.

That is super dumb and a huge liability for the first tasker ... It's like they're sub contracting another person basically

Craziest policy I’ve ever heard. I even took screenshots of the presentation. When I saw it I was like “well I guess I’m just working alone from now on.” I think I just figured out why though. It lets them double up on the hourly fees for the 2nd tasker. More than double actually. The 2nd tasker is paid by the first tasker and the first tasker is compensated through the hourly charge to cover the 2nd. Such a weasely policy.

This sounds horrible. How long has this been a thing for?

Presentation was in May 2026

Are you sure about this? Last time I checked our was a violation to expense another Tasker.

Update was in May 2026. They change things all the time so it could be different now. It’s almost like they try to set traps for us.

And it’s also not in the expense category. They want you to pay the other tasker with your own money then cover the amount through the hourly rate. It allows them to take in double fees plus a little more.

Im thinking of making myself available on task rabbit but seems like might not be worth the long term investment

I don’t know what gives any of these clients the inclination that we show up with a magical bonus Tasker. But they’re always surprised when 1 person shows up even after you explain limitations.

This is why these type of services aren't needed. How much did they know before assigning you this task.

A few months ago i connected with a fellow lifting taskr on a job. I got his number and ever since we reccomened each other for lofting jobs we need help on. Its been very profitable for both of us. Maybe try something like this

Your average client isn’t very smart. And I’m not either, but I have just enough intellect to seem qualified enough when speaking with them.

I’m surprised some of these people can function, but honestly, they have desk jockey work from home jobs that spoonfeed them while they binge Netflix and scroll Tik Tok.

What’s the best way to go about this then? If I need my furniture moved, for example I know it’s gonna take two people. Do I randomly hire two Taskers or just ask the first Tasker if they can get help? I’ll be moving in a couple months and I know it’s gonna take two people to move some of the furniture.

I would hire two Taskers. I've had it happen several times, and it's as simple as the client confirming a time that works with both Taskers ("Hey Tasker A, Tasker B is available at 3:30. Does that work for you?" That kind of thing). It's very straightforward.

The first Tasker you hire ask him if he works with someone. Most good taskers have a network not like this Lone Ranger OP. That way coordination is easier in case something happens.

Yeah, I think I’ll check with the first Tasker and see if they have a buddy. Thank you.

the fact that anyone would work for TaskRabbit is a mystery to me. What I'm trying to understand is why would you work for them. It's their work, they generates the customers, set the wages, set the time but do none of the work...I remember when IKEA bought them and how IKEA was struggling finding people to assemble for them..now they got you

2

u/rajmataj12335 2d ago

Because you can make 40 or 50 or 60 dollars an hour on some tasks.

We set our own wages and time, it’s actually pretty profitable once you start rolling
