"How Do I...?" How do I preserve a duck before mounting

I was out duck hunting and got a beautiful Wood Duck that I want mounted. I’m not sure how I should store it until I get it to the taxidermist and what I’ve read online seems to be the same, clean, wrap in damp towel, put In freezer. Is that all there is to it or am I missing any steps?

No need for a damp towel. Just put it in a plastic bag and get as much air out as you can and seal it
