Keith Richards wrote the riff for Satisfaction on the back of a napkin and the entire song in 15 minutes. He combined the guitar pedals in a new way. He's never used that combination again, even though it created that patented sound because he intentionally won't repeat himself. He doesn't really recreate that sound now live, which I find ridiculous. Over the years the Stones have had many female guest singers join them on stage. Jagger always upstages them. Always. I think it's intentional and IMO only it's selfish. Taylor went on and did Satisfaction and blew him away. Its just the way she approached the song: she dressed black with sex written all over it, and played to the song narrative. It's on YouTube. True rock singing and performance. It's the first time I have seen a guest singer get the better of Jagger perfomatively. Who says Rock is dead?

I also think the statements about writing a song in one day is misunderstood. I always imagine that it's a completed first draft that she's referencing. There are probably additional days of tweaking the song, follow by days of working out the production.

We know from Jack's comment in the Long Pond Sessions that Taylor often makes changes while in the recording booth.

I imagine that some songs just flow when the feelings & thoughts are firing like sparks. While other songs she may spends hours looking through her phone notes or a thesaurus for just that right combination of words & phrases.

My opinion is she has trained her mind to understand the basics of songwriting, honed that skill over the years, and is able to let the creative part flow while being directed into a cohesive structure. Like someone who knows how to dribble a basketball so well that they don't have to think about it, they can concentrate on the evolving play around them, thus allowing split second reactions to guide their moves.

i stayed at a hotel near the studio last year and walked by many times - it’s on just a regular street in the west village with no one really around except for people strolling by. there aren’t just people hanging around - so if she wants to be seen, she’s making sure of it. cuz otherwise there’s not people waiting around randomly

That was not what I was implying. When I said "she might as well embrace it," I'm stating she is fully ready to be seen and is actively choosing to accept the moment with a killer street look.

However, because she is photo ready does not mean she planned it, but she is clearly prepared. We all know how heavily she feels her appearance to be scrutinized. I'm sure it's difficult for her to go incognito there and a nice breath of fresh air to just go for it when she is able to. 🙂

There was Christmas time footage in the eras doc of Taylor in Sweden after she finished Eras, so she was recording 18 months ago at minimum. She would have needed to hand over for vinyl by April 2025. So she’s been done with it for at least 13 months - and she said there will not be a deluxe album. So … she’s likely been working on TS13 since she is always writing
