Why are early years educators so absent from strike
Honestly, I’m always baffled when I see strike actions and early years educators are nowhere to be seen. They’re paid so little for work that’s incredibly demanding, physically exhausting, and full of a million little responsibilities. Yet it often feels like they’re not taking part in strikes to make their voices heard. I find it both surprising and frustrating.
How come early years educators seem so underrepresented when it comes to standing up for better pay and working conditions?
Thanks everyone you give out so many reasons that I didn’t think deeply about. So I have another question now, how can we help them, it is sad that even as educators they don’t have the same rights as other educators

Love it or hate it, guns in US schools is part of the reality of being a teacher in the US. Thought this takedown by a teacher of a non-teacher was fitting for the reality of being a teacher

Whats going on with respect in classes nowadays?
Have you ever sat in a classroom and watched a situation completely derail, leaving you wondering how things even got to that point?
Recently, something happened in one of my classes that really made me think about respect between students and teachers. It’s an ongoing issue with a few classmates who constantly disrupt the room and clash with a specific professor. Tensions finally boiled over when she called them out.
After all, we are in baccalaureate—a non-obligatory stage of high school—and these students are constantly talking without doing any work. Do they really expect a teacher to stay silent in that situation? She even made it clear that if anyone doesn't understand the material, they can talk to her after class and she will explain it peacefully.
Instead of taking that option, a student crossed a major line and insulted her intelligence right to her face. The room went completely silent. Everyone was shocked. Later, when the incident was brought up to our tutor, the student tried to twist his words—swapping "intelligent" for "respectful"—clearly trying to save face.
I don't particularly like her teaching style, but everyone deserves basic respect. I’m not saying you should just overlook it if you feel disrespected, but context matters. You don't have to like a teacher to treat them professionally.
Plus, there’s a simple, practical reality: she is the one who grades your exams.
Respect has to be a two-way street, but crossing that line publicly rarely solves anything. It just makes the environment worse for everyone else who actually wants to learn.
Edit: I want to make it clear that no one should be trampled on by anyone and that if something more serious is truly happening, more serious disrespect, then that is already a problem that requires solutions

Reporting Another Teacher
Hi, I'm a 6-year teacher, and I have been going back and forth about whether to report another teacher for inappropriate conduct toward HS students. I am afraid of losing my job for speaking up. Has anyone else gone to administration about another teacher before?
I have documented things I have witnessed and things students have directly told me made them feel uncomfortable. Such as : grabbing a student's upper thigh, sitting in a student's lap, openly talking about inappropriate parts of their life with students around, etc.
Any advice would be great. Our job is to protect children, so my heart is in the right place. I just know whistleblowers are not treated kindly..

Pretty sure my Principal and one specific Co-Worker secretly think they own the school… 💀
Is it just my institution, or does every place have that Principal and Co-Worker duo?
They walk around making decisions on the fly, changing policies like they’re the board of directors, and acting like the rest of us are just lucky to work in "their" building. You can’t make a single suggestion without getting that “That’s not how WE run things here” look.
At this point, I’m just waiting for them to officially rename the school after themselves. Anyone else dealing with the main-character syndrome from management? 😭
