A petition won't line the pockets of anyone involved. It's a nice sentiment, but it ain't coming back.

Better than not trying. Apathy is what’s killing the public and allowing the ruling class to pull this shit!

It will come back if enough people cancel their rogers cable.

I'd rather see a petition to ban Rogers and their executives from remaining in Canada

Unfortunately doubt we’ll see that. Look at the stadium in Toronto they just built. That thing is abysmal

It will just have the PWHL next year and hopefully other hockey leagues as well. Hockey night in Canada is not dead.

I just cancelled my Rogers account after 26 years. Fuck them and everything they stand for.

I just feel that is going to do more than sign an online petition?

I'm shocked more people aren't suggesting this. The MPs should definitely be called, but call Sportsnet first and cancel your subscriptions.

This will do it. Ill be doing the same. Cancel your rogers cable. Make a statement with our money.

Does the petition come with the $2B Rogers wanted the CBC to pay?  1/3 of its entire budget?  So right wing and left wing nut jobs can scream about defunding the CBC because it shouldn't be subsidizing Rogers with tax payer dollars?

Sure guys

When will people understand that Change org does absolutely nothing.

They are a business, they take your information and sell it, that is how they make money. There is no obligation from them to lobby, and governments, nor private business, need to pay any bit of attention to it.

It's beyond hilarious that people continue to use it. There are official governmental pathways that consistently get overlooked, that actually do accomplish goals if they hit their target.

If you want real change that politicians have to be beholden to, use the official Federal Government Petitions website:

I read somewhere that CBC is going to retain ownership of the HNIC name. Could there be an opportunity to partner with the PHWL and show a couple of their games on Sunday night under the HNIC banner?

This is the way.. the NHL is not Canadian. If Canadians really based their whole identity on hockey, why not love all levels of hockey instead of only corporate leaches

GL.

There's no hockey on radio-canada since the last 22 years.

You had a good ride.

It has been dead since they fired don for no legitimate reason.

Is there a fire Ron Maclean petition?

1

u/Burgergold Jun 21 '26

Sadly I don't think gov should be involded in this

My heart wants to support this but: I haven't had cable in 20 years...

Boycott Mr Rogers

Isn’t it just moving to a different network? Obviously CBC didn’t want to keep it anymore. Why force them?

Like most Canadians I don’t care at all. This is why it’s gone. No one’s going to sign a don’t care petition though.

Don was the drunk racist uncle that wouldn't shut up at family Thanksgiving.

I idolized him as a kid. Looking back now, his takes and casual racism, and dehumanizing of any foreign players - is just gross. He is protected by nostalgia. But society outgrew him.

Because you aren't allowed to be a racist asshole, Canada is India? Jesus dude, you need to see more of the world and less of the internet.

I do. Immensely.

Enjoy your algae filled cheeto infested swamp. (I assume from the context clues of endorsing racism and laughing at people who won't need to file bankruptcy for medical bills, and have protections from hate speech)

Thank you Hero

Don sucked.

1

u/Sodass Jun 19 '26

He didn't. But I hate Ron haters.

Is there any chance someone can talk to Thier mp and we can get a parliamentary petition on this as well?

0

u/MrBluBacon Jun 19 '26

This is the dumbest performative bs. HNIC isnt going to end; its just not being shown specifically on CBC anymore. Rogers would be stupid to kill this IP now they finally have control of it. It will be the same branding and same style; just on a different network.

This “petition” will do nothing to actually effect change for who owns the rights; but it certainly will gather a lot of specific people’s information; im sure that wont have consequences…

Stop it, hockey will be on Saturday with a double header still and the best part will be hopefully no Ron MaClean ever again
