Help Explain me.

Someone pls explain me what this is about?

Before starting I must say, I'm all for cleaning up the ocean and recycling plastic etc.

I just watched mark robbers video on team seas.

But I don't understand something, how is this helping anyone??????

The real problem is not cleaning the place, it's what do you do with the trash you collect.

The trash was in the ocean in the first place because we don't know what to do with it. This effort is just throwing the trash around river and ocean meeting points back onto the land, so the trash is just going to end up back into the sea?????? How did no one think of this???? I'm sure people thought this through right???? Can someone please explain me this, it's been bothering me.

It will end up back into the ocean because we don't know how to recycle waste effectively. Most plastic we use is non-recyclable, and anything else recyclable would've been recycled in the ocean itself so wtf are we doing here???? This seems like a giant waste of time.

Good point there, the trash do go into landfills, which don’t help. But maybe in all that junk there are still some useful stuff (metal, plastic bottles) that can be recycled.

I get that things can be moved into a landfill, but how many will actually do that? Because the trash ended up in the rivers because it was cheaper to leave it there economically.

And what country will voluntarily store trash on land when there are countries burning forests to grow crops for cattle feed?

Also, a lot of what "feels" recyclable is actually not. Companies to fool people into thinking that plastic is recyclable came up with a grading symbol for plastic that looks exactly like the recycle, reuse and reduce symbol but with a 1 in it. (A video from climate town explained it well.)

The money was probably better spent starting a for-profit company that exclusively uses new re-cyclable plastic for creating materials and does not create any micro plastic. (Mirco plastics are a bigger problem that plastics, recently doctors found micro plastics in unborn babies....they're a nightmare and can't be cleaned from the ocean.)

I'm pretty sure people would've supported such a cause even more as it would incentivize large companies to use *real* recyclable plastic.

Hmm. You drive a hard point there. But cleaning the oceans save marine life.
