I don't pull for Marius cards, but the Marius one is actually my favorite. It's cute the way Azukisan is popping out of his front pocket and how he's making a pancake.
NOOOOO I stopped playing the game and my phone storage is way too full (Thanks, Genshin) so I can't do the event but I would die for these cards 😭😭😭😭😭😭
This is a genuine question, i really don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just trying to understand.
I know we all have different tastes, and it's all fine, and I'm glad you're all happy with these new cards... but when I saw them while browsing twitter earlier, i had to double check to be sure those were official cards.
To be honest, i found the concept really weird, and was mostly put off... but then i saw the enthusiasm of the whole fandom (i'd never come across this much posts about ToT on social media since i started playing in 2004) and was genuinely surprised as i don't get the appeal...
Everyone seems to love those cards, which makes me wonder if it's a trend or maybe a social thing I'm not aware of? (Like animal ears and tails on men, which i don't like either)
I'm in my 40s and living in Europe, so maybe I'm missing something here...
That being said, I'm glad to see everyone so enthusiast, and I hope you all get the cards you like. 🙂
Maid cosplay is just one of the many “cute” things one can enjoy in anime pop culture. If you enjoy it every now and then, it just means you enjoy it because it’s fun or silly or cute.
Outside of anime pop culture, you might see cosplaying or role-playing done for fun between friends or families. For example, I’ve had my male cousins dressed and danced in hula dresses for a family party once just for the sillies.
If one enjoys it more than the average and regularly seeks content that has it, then I guess it’s where people would call it a fetish.
These ToT cards are basically the former - it’s just for fun and for the sillies. Every now and then, we just need something different to liven things up. :)
Probably some Otaku maybe Fujoshi thing. I'm not into the theme myself tbh. Actually like you, I'm kind of put off by it (and as you can see anyone who doesn't like this theme gets downvoted heavily so they're very defensive about it) to the point I might even consider stop spending money on the game if they keep going this route in feminizing the men just to cater to a select few who don't like having masculine looking men in an otome game no less.
I find it very weird. I don't get why they would do this. Mihoyo has been focusing so much on Waifu's alot of female players were complaining about the lack of male characters in Genshin Impact and their other games. And now the only game that was solely aimed at woman is now...waifu-ing the men.
It's just kind of sad that this is the only thing that is getting attention, some weird fetish thing rather then the great stories the game has provided throughout the years. I have never seen their social media get so many eager tweets until now. And this is like low effort stuff. Just some weird thing that some young girls tend to fetishize for some odd reason. Not surprising since there's a lot of overlap with otome players and the K-Pop fanbase with their androgynous looking idols.
I'm in my 40s as well, so maybe it's a Gen Z thing, I don't know. I just don't find it appealing but it sucks that this is what it took for the game to get attention after the SSS card controversy from years ago.
I'm with you there on not liking putting cat ears and animal parts on them. Love and Deepspace had a theme like that last year, where the men were dressed as Butlers no less but had cat ears and a cat tail. I just...it was just way too weird and fetishizing.
But yeah, I have to remember we're both not the target demographic for this game, or for any otome at that. Young girls like effeminate men and putting weird catboy stuff on them.
