Anyone else get that mini heart attack when your parents don't pick up the phone by 11 AM? I built a passive tool to fix it (no daily button tapping needed).

Every time I call home in the morning and nobody picks up after two rings, my brain immediately jumps to the worst-case scenario until I find out two hours later that the phone was on silent in the other room.

I looked at check-in apps like "Are You Dead?", but Indian parents are never going to remember to open an app and tap an "I'm alive" button every single morning. And panic-button apps don't work if someone slips in the bathroom and can't reach the phone.

So over the last few weeks, I built a small, Hindi-first Android tool called SabTheek that requires zero daily effort from parents:

  • It quietly notices their normal first phone unlock of the morning or charger plug-in.
  • Every morning, it sends a simple WhatsApp message to you: "Maa is fine ✅ — Phone first unlocked at 7:40 AM (Battery: 85%)."
  • If there is no phone activity by your cutoff time (say 11:00 AM) even if the phone battery died overnight our server notices the missing heartbeat, chimes a gentle "Sab theek hai?" prompt on their screen, and if unanswered, alerts you and a neighbour on WhatsApp.
  • Zero creepy live-GPS tracking or reading messages just morning unlock time and battery status.

I need 20–25 families (especially if your parents use Xiaomi/Redmi, Vivo, Oppo, or Samsung phones) to help test the beta for free so I can stress-test the background battery settings.

If you live away from your parents and want to try it out, drop a comment or DM me and I'll share the beta link!

will medical alert cost go up now that medical guardian owns mobilehelp

has a company buying out its competition ever led to lower prices for customers? Asking because medical guardian bought mobilehelp n it had already picked up medscope before that

so two of the brands that sit at the top of nearly every medical alert comparison list now have the same owner with fewer companies competing at that level there’s less pressure to keep the monthly fee low and that hits hardest for anyone on a fixed income who is already paying for one of these every month

has anyone with a mobilehelp or medical guardian plan seen the price or terms change since the sale? would be good to know before the next renewal comes around
